“A breath of fresh air!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

A breath of fresh air! Resort surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. The room was spacious! There are many facilities like a pool, gym and so on at no extra cost! Nevertheless, the treadmills was under maintenance and as I only stayed for one night so I didn't have chance to try the swimming pool. The WiFi was usable. The breakfast was just average!

My friends and I (4 people in all; though the villa can sleep up to 6) booked a Villa Marquis for one night. While the price-tag was more than reasonable, there were several issues that made the resort less glamorous than what it purports to be.

Regarding the villa itself, it was subdivided into 3 sections (living area, sleeping area 1 and sleeping area 2) that one can only access by going back out into the open; the designs of the villas made no sense. The pool was sufficient should one wish to take a quick night time dip, but was too small and positioned weirdly in the villa for anything else. The pool was also filthy and covered with muck, leaves and dead insects when we checked-in.

Regarding the resort itself, the restaurants were so so and the to do's were ok, but there were still curiosities considering its status as a luxury resort (e.g. 6 items being available on the Room Service menu).

One redeeming feature worth highlighting would be the in-room hot tub in which they pump hot spring water...it makes for a highly relaxing dip (though in a way makes the pool redundant).

Overall we went in with low expectations (considering the price tag), but there were simply too many issues for this resort to rank anything higher than average.

We only stayed overnight and checked out the next morning, so didn't really took full advantage of the hotel. The pool area is huge, lots of dif restaurants, you can rent bikes and ride around town.

We were upgraded to a villa. It has it's own entrance, private pool, 2 stories, living room/kitchen, and hot springs in the bathrooms. Wish we had more time to fully enjoy the hotel. Very serene surroundings.

Room Tip: go for a villa, they are spacious and perfect for larger families or groups of friends.

Papago International Resort is set amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Taiwan. It is located in Chishang, which features a stunning valley of rice fields set between two large mountain ranges.

The hotel itself is a large, family-friendly resort with many hot springs, spa and pool options to enjoy. It offers a great Taiwanese style breakfast buffet, with Western options as well.

The rooms, while extremely spacious, are some of the most outdated I've seen in a while. Cold, blue tile floors, thin sheets, powder blue and brown bathroom, etc. It also did not feel 100% clean. The wifi was unusable.

That being said, the location is just spectacular. Rent a bike outside the hotel for a leisurely ride on Chishang's meandering bike path. It is relatively traffic free as you ride through the pastoral landscape, passing local farmers, lily ponds, lush green rice fields and small streams. Highly recommend for a memorable, off-the-beaten path experience.

This hotel was great!!! The room & toilet was spacious!! There are also many facilities like a gym, snooker & table tennis room, karaoke room, bar, game room!!! You can also rent a bicycle out side the hotel & stroll around the area :) The swimming pool was big!!! But I didn't get to swim in it...as we must wear a swimming wear & CAP as it is a international resort...I don't wear a cap when I am swimming:) but they were selling swimming caps in the gift shop...it was not worth it to buy the cap....so I decided to play table tennis on the second floor instead :) it was fun!!! There were quite a amount of channels on the tv, but mostly chinese channels...anyway it was a great day at papago international resort :) definitely a international 5 ★ hotel ^_^

First time in my life I got to stay in this 5 - 6 star resort when I travel with my groups of friends last year. This is really relaxing and nice resort. The resort really have nice view when it's come to evening time.
Got to know from the resort staff that one of the taiwan drama (Hi My Sweetheart) was shooting in this resort.

Stayed at Papago Resort in Dec 2011 with my family as part of the round the Taiwan Tour.

Breakfast 6.5/10
- reasonable spread, not much variety and quality of food is acceptable.

Hotel Staff 8/10
- Overall the experience and interaction with the hotel staff is good. Staff is polite and professional.

Hotel Room 7/10
- huge room but the quality and finishes is not fantastic. Thumbs up for those who prefer to have huge room.
- Overall, the room is clean and comfortable.

TV Programme 6/10
Not much varieties and choices.

Swimming Pool 7/10
- Pool is huge. We didnt use the pool and the hot spring as it was winter and cold during then.

Facilities 7/10
- we used the pool table, small arcade room, playground, sufficient for family fun.
- as we only stayed there for 1 night, i am sure there are failities that we didnt explore. One of which is the bicycle ride round the resort.

Gym 3/10
- gym?? what gym? I cannot recall what was the gym equipment available in there. I was there but ended up doing push ups for my workout.

Overall Experience 6.5/10

If given a choice, I may opt to try other resort in Taiwan.
One of the best resort that we have stayed is Evergreen Resort in Taiwan.
