“Great little place, to enjoy life and relax!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

After travelling for a month by local buses, 3 days here, 4 days there, we wanted to put down our heavy backpacks for a while and enjoy the sea, the beach and the scenery. We found all that at the small and friendly Hotel or Residencial Dos Palmas. We first made reservations for 3 nights on the internet with Dona Lovinia who was so helpful, but once there we decided to stay for 2 weeks and really enjoyed the sunsets over the Almirante Bay with the mountains in the background, the marina just across the terrasse, the quiet breakfasts I was able to prepare in the tiny kitchen before everybody else was up, reading when not too many people were talking on the deck or just watching the orange starfish and thousands of tiny fish from the deck. At night we could hear the water under our room since the hotel is built above the water, and there was no need for AC. The hotel is located just a little away from Calle 3, the main street where most of the bars and restaurants are, and is usually very quiet, was even so during Carnival. It is also very clean thanks to Monica's good work and Lovinia's pride for her family business! We could always find her sitting at the front, watching the kids playing in the park or selling them juices, and she loved to talk...
We were very close to Boteros Bocatorenos Unidos and booked three tours with them, to snorkel and visit other islands and sights. It was very easy to get fresh fruits at a local fruit market close by and to buy the delicious fried chicken from Pollo Rosti, almost next door, which we could savour on the deck with a glass of wine or a beer from Lovinia's fridge.
Thanks Lovinia, and the two Nelsons for a great place with friendly atmosphere!

This is a great little hostal in Bocas. For $35 a night (with aircon) we had a decent sized room which was cleaned every day without us having to ask. There is a kind of kitchen (a tiny area at the water-side with a sink and some plates/cups and a kettle) which would be greatly improved if they just got a small fridge so guests could keep milk and veg cool. You can dive off the end of the jetty at the back of the hotel - bliss in the oppressive heat! There were lots of tiny fish and some huge starfish right there too. Staff were friendly and there was always someone around if you needed anything. The location is great - about 5 mins walk onto main road of shops/bars but not right in the thick of the pounding music. Really enjoyed our stat here, thanks Dos Palmas!

Terrific place to stay on bocas isla. This small quaint hotel is directing over the Almirante bay which has the most beautiful views and awesome sunsets. Run by a local family and has been In business over 10 years. It's charming , clean, and takes you back to a much simpler time. Which I can greatly admire. No wifi here but who needs it when you have a terrific balcony over the water with nice breezes and beautiful scenery. You won't be disappointed this place has tons of history, just ask the owner Lovinia!! Who takes pride in her business. Email contact: residencialdospalmas@yahoo.com, tel: 011-507-757-9906.

We stayed here for two nights on a recent visit to panama and really liked it. The host is very kind and maintains a super clean and safe hotel. Rooms have "old fashioned" decor and are very cute. It's built over the water, on stilts, and has a wonderful shared deck to enjoy the sunset on. The water is so clean, and it's amazing to just jump off the dock and go for a swim right there from your hotel

It's also excellent value for money

AC is available but we didn't use it as it's wonderful to sleep with the window open and hear and small the ocean

Showers are lukewarm, but it's such a lovely temperature in Panama that we didn't miss hot water at all

This is not a party hotel and definitely family friendly

I'd stay here again for sure!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the two rooms facing the deck, they are lovely

I loved this place. It was clean and off the main street so it was quiet. The woman who ran it was very sweet. The price was very affordable. The sunsets were amazing from the back deck, where you could also jump in the water. We could walk to any place in town.

For $30 a night, this is as good as it gets. Our room was dank and dark, ultimately, who's hanging out in their room in Bocas? The patio in the back overlooking the water will afford you one of the most amazing views of the sunset and place has a totally relaxed vibe all just a minute's walk or so from the bars and restaurants.

Very quiet hotel but close to the town. The terrace facing to the sea is a great place to relax. The owner sometimes appeared gruffly but she gave us some good advices on activities. The room was spacious and clean.
