My girlfriend and I recently spent 10 days in Panama and had a unbelievable time exploring the country. We stayed in the Bocas Del Toro area for three nights and on one of those nights we had the pleasure of staying at Blue Marlin Resort.
The Blue Marlin Resort is on Isla Carneros which is about a 2 minute water taxi ride ($1 per person) from the main Bocas town. The Blue Marlin Resort is not well demarcated, thre are no signs for the hotel in town, or on the island when you reach the dock. You'd be better served to ask the taxi to take you to the Pickled Pirate Restaurant on Carneros because they'll know where that is, and it is same dock used by the hotel.
The room we had was nice, it had a great cabin vibe to it. I found evertyhing to be quite adequate and somewhat spacious. The staff was hard to find sometimes but they were friendly and helpful. The island is beautiful, very tranquil and away from the hustle and bustle of Isla Colon and Bocas town. There are nearby beaches on Carneros within easy walking distance of Blue Marlin where you can do some light snorkeling and swimming.
Only criticism of this place is same of any other place that is not in Bocas town, if you want to go out at night it's very hard to find a water taxi. Most stop running after 10 p.m. When we made this reservation we knew we would want the first night to relax so it was perfect. We enjoyed the serene setting of the island, and had some refreshing cocktails and beers at the Pickled Pirate Restaurant (30 second walk from room). The next two nights we were ready to live a little so we stayed in Bocas town.
Would definitely stay here again on a return trip when wanting to relax for a night or two.
