“Great view and good food”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

We were very lucky that El Ultimo Refugio was near our hotel. The service here was excellent as was the view out over the water. The food was also very good. We had the ceviche and red snapper. The red snapper had a pesto sauce on it that was very tasty. The portions did not appear large but once we left the restaurant we realized how filling the portions really were. El Ultimo Refugio although not my favorite restaurant in Boca Town is very good and worth a try.

“Best place in town! ”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

A must visit if you're visiting Bocas Town. Most restaurants in Bocas Town are below average, so this restaurant was a nice change.

Great food, atmosphere and service. Menu was pretty small and they don't serve coffee. If those two things don't bother you, a must visit.

“Around the corner in Bocas - worth that little extra walk.”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

So it rates #1 in Bocas - so we had to try it.

If you walk there, you need to go past the Super Gourmet, turn right and keep going. Another 50 yards and you are there.

Ambience is good; the dining area overlooks the other side of the bay - not so many lights except for the small boats passing back and forth.

Excellent and attentive service.

We had salad and octopus to start, followed by shrimp risotto and snapper in pesto. Both were excellent.

With a cocktail to start, the bill came to around $56 for the two of us.

“What a chef with heart can do!”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

If your in Bocas there are words you hear thrown around...cute..over the water..romantic..rustic..and above all fusion...what matters the most is what is my food going to taste like! An owner can spend a million bucks before the place opens but if there is no heart in the back of the house..order ANYTHING you like and you will fall in love...it's simply..the back of the house has heart!

“Great flavor, small portion.”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Five of us went to dinner and four of us went home hungry. The food tasted very good, but seemed a little pricey for the area. The service was ok. I don't know, but if I'm going to pay $16 for an entree in this area of $1.50 beers, I think I should be full when I leave.
