“Great hotel and staff”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

Stayed for four nights recenty and it was very enjoyable. Room was extremely nice, especially as we only had a studio. Staff were very friendly, and exrenely helpful. Is great value, and includes breakfast and a drink every night. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Not in the room much, so the studio was fine. Rained too much to take advantage of the nice patio.

We originally had planned to stay a few days at Palma Royale and then move to other areas around Isla Colon but after our first couple of days walking and biking the area we quickly realized being right in the hub was the place to be as it is so easy from Palma Royale to catch a water taxi to anywhere your heart desires or rent a bike or hire a taxi. All that said, we ended up spending two weeks at Palma Royale. Carmen who works the front desk is GREAT! She worked her magic so we could spend all our time in a suite without having to move rooms as we were there for Carnival and the place was booked full! the owners are very friendly and welcoming. They graciously upgraded us our last night in the beautiful large grand suite on the 4th floor with amazing views of Boca town! What impressed us the most was how quiet this hotel is! It is built very well and has thick walls. We NEVER heard neighbors although the hotel was full! Friendly staff too! Thanks to all for a great stay in Boca!

Room Tip: Third and Fourth floor suites facing the main road are large, sunny and light rooms with nice wrap a...

We needed a place to stay for just one night prior to taking a boat out to Isla Bastimentos, and I found the Palma Royale through a recommendation and the internet. It's a lovely, well-decorated, comfortable hotel at a reasonable rate that includes a great free breakfast and happy hour beverage coupons! It's also well situated near the boat landing, and the staff was very pleasant and accomodating. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed one night in Boca town before our venture to one of the islands resorts.  When you arrive in Boca, your senses are awakened with a mixture of peoples including Bob Marley types, hippies, ex-pats and local Panamanians living life intertwined.  You will be presented with tour operators,  open- aired restaurants, hotels and hostels and real-estate sales all vying for your business.

Should you enter Bocas either by plane or water taxi, the Palm Hotel is at the other end of town and walkable if you have wheeled suitcases or back packs.  The ferry dock is conveniently located across the street from the Palms.  From the airport, which is in town at the opposite  end of the ferry terminal,  you will pass many hostels and rooms for rent and when you see the  Palms Hotel you will secretly be happy you have chosen to stay here.  It is a bit less rustic than many of the establishments and rooms you passed. I would normally rate this hotel a 4/5 but in Bocas it would be a 5.

The staff are very helpful, and have very good english.  We were only staying one night so we chose the 'economy' room for $80.  We found out that economy meant a room on the ground floor behind the office and kitchen.  The room was great though, nice tiled bathroom, fridge, safe, free wi-fi, satellite tv, coffee service complete with beans and a grinder and a small private patio.  The room is behind the bar so you can hear the music from the patio, which was pleasant.  The noise from the bar/restaurant was neglible in the room.  I do not know what other rooms were economy, but I suspect all the main floor ones were - maybe ask for one further from the front as they looked a bit bigger and farther from the main street.  When we arrived I wondered about a room on a higher floor and how nice the view would be from their patios as the ocean is just across the street - but for one night it didn't matter.  For those with heavy luggage - there is an elevator.

Your room rate includes a free welcome drink at happy hour and what we were told was a continental breakfast which turned out to be 'order anything off the breakfast menu'.  We had eggs, bacon, toast, fruit and coffee - what a deal!

The Palms is located  close to all restaurants and grocery stores and far enough from the noisy night time activity which is at the other end of town near the park.  There is a really nice market beside the hotel that sells fresh cooked food, quality groceries and alcohol and home-made local chocolate.

I would recommend Bocas for a one night stay, and definitely stay at the Palms if you want to stay in town to remain close to the action.

I live on the otherside of the Caribbean. I absolutely loved my vacation to Panama and Bocas. I can't wait to go back and am looking for the next opportunity to return.

Being from the Virgin Islands, I was a little surprised at how remote and authentic Bocas was. But Palma Royale was a gem on the island. After spending the day off the beaten path in Bocas, it was great to return to a hotel with great amenities. The rooms were spacious and large enough for 4. The service was great and the drinks at the bar were delicious. I was also appreciative of the staff for taking care of my laundry at the last minute before returning to Panama City. On my next trip to Bocas I will be staying at Hotel Palma Royale

clean rooms, comfortable beds. can see the ocean from the dinning area. free breakfast every morning to choose off the menu. coffee is delicious. we had a main level room so we could always hear staff talking, woke me almost every morning. also have cable with english channels for the rainy caribbean days. Manager really helpful and spoke perfect english as did most of the other staff (huge bonus). Our first welcome was less than welcoming. We were given our room key and told our room number but oddly the rooms are not labelled. So later we asked why the rooms aren't labelled and the lady said "because WE know which room is which". Good to KNOW!

Room Tip: Bottome floor rooms, no view of ocean and noise. But no concern for safety, our room had a safe
