My friend and I really enjoyed our stay here. The manager is really nice and helpful. Their rates are super reasonable considering what other options are available for hotels in Bocas. I would definitely stay here again. More

I stayed here for a week in early June. Hotel olas is a very friendly place, nice, efficient staff, well organised boat trips and located right on the water. Just 200 yards from the main strip of bars and restaurants, it's ideally placed to be nice and quiet. I stayed for 7 days in bocas which was probably too long, there is not a great deal to do unless you like diving etc. but saying that it is one of the most beautiful places I have seen.
Given some of the comments on here I had feared that we had made a mistake in our booking. However, being here has been a pretty good experience on the whole. A nice quiet place with a great view over the sea. After an initial problem meaning our allocated room was not ready for us, the room we ended up with was comfortable, clean and had air conditioning that worked well. There are shared spaces at the end of each floor with sofas and chairs looking out to sea -a great place to pass some time in the tropical storms. The included breakfast is meagre... a mini muffin and a cup of tea/coffee/chocolate, but there are paid for options too and the huge bowl of "muesli"-in essence freshly made fruit with granola and yoghurt topped with honey is value for $5 given that you also get the mini muffin and coffee.
A couple of niggles - like you need to pay daily for your room and the staff can be a bit "vague" sometimes even when it comes to the tours that they organise. But I guess it is the Caribbean way and part of the island experience.
Overall, yep, pleased we stayed here.
The hotel has the potential to be really good as it's in a quiet location, the rooms are decent value and it has some nice views but we felt it was let down by a few things.
Our room was spacious and had a view over the bay. The cleaning wasn't very thorough though - the floor wasn't swept at all in the four nights we stayed which isn't great when there's sand everywhere. The air-con worked ok but leaked water onto the bed if left on for too long. There were definitely bed bugs which we didn't notice until right at the end after we'd already been bitten all over. It didn't seem like the kind of place bed bugs would be a problem and we expected better to be honest.
We found the staff to be a real mixed bag - some were very friendly and courteous. One female on reception was rude to the point of comedy, and met any attempt we made to get some service whilst she was texting on her phone with a look of utter disdain. Seemed pretty ridiculous she was working in a public-facing role.
We used the laundry service twice which was good. There are some good options for breakfast but only if you pay from $3 - $7, which isn't cheap for Bocas. Otherwise it's just a muffin.
The wooden decor is nice and there's a deck overlooking the bay upstairs. There's lots of information available on local excursions in the lobby.
Overall, it has some good points but the cleaning and attitude of some staff let it down.
Stayed at Olas for a couple days with some buddies to surf, party, and relaxxx. Didnt see anywhere else we would of rather stayed. Price was well worth it, close to the bars, front porch is on the water with a bueno bar, and had an eclectic group of guests. It was also super chill when we needed it. Get the best of Bocas via Olas.
ps. Muchos bueno chicas
pss. Ben changed our lives.
Stayed here for 3 nights in May and had a wonderful time. Spent lots of time looking out over the beautiful water. Great views from our room and 2nd floor lounge & restaurant. Very pleasant hotel. Ben was especially helpful and he made sure that everything was to our liking while we were there.
The room was clean and basic - all we needed.
We definitely recommend this one.
