We chose red frog as our luxury treat for our honeymoon. We booked Villa 29a which is basically a hotel room with its own pool. Pretty but not at all practical. The 'restaurants' at the resort are a backpackers and a bar on the beach. As you can imagine without a kitchen and with the limited choice of chicken sandwiches, tacos and cheeseburgers it was impossible to stay at the resort for 5 days. After kicking up a fuss 'Mario' our rep did nothing. Another guy at the hostel managed to upgrade us to Villa 4 which used to be the spa, so we now have a kitchen (and a much bigger pool). It is a $20 return trip on the water taxi to Bocus town where the grocery stores, restaurants and all the activities are so you must budget this in. The resort was running NO ACTIVITIES in July/August! They lied in their email that everything could be organised from the resort. The 'Activity centre' is at the backpackers and they just call Bocus Town and you have to get a taxi over every day and charge much more than in the town itself. Our advice - DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT unless you want remote logings and want to sit on a hot beach all day being bitten to pieces by sand flys. Stay in Bocus town (which is good for food and trips/activities) but doesnt look that...More
