Stayed here 3 nights. The AC room was 1150. The location is ok for pahar ganj. Not too noisy, not too far off. Everything is close by. The staff was friendly enough, and it looked like the other guests liked the place, so we took the room. After settling in, we noticed that the room was not very clean. The sheets had a few stains on them, and one or two hairs. The floor was a bit dusty, and when we looked closely, we found a candy wrapper. The bathroom was also not very clean, and the sink had a piece of dental floss wedged around the drain hole. We just avoided touching it our entire stay. The biggest problem with the bathroom, though, was that for some reason, the slope of the floor was such that even though there was a drain under the shower head, all the water flowed across the room into the drain near the toilet seat. This made the floor wet all the time, which didn't help with keeping the room clean.
Next: the AC was very old and a bit on the weak side. If turned on the entire night, the room would be cool, but during the day it struggled. Biggest problem here was that it was do noisy, we thought about sleeping without it. Also, they provided no blankets, so it got a bit cold during the night with the AC on.
They provided towels, which were clean.
The Wifi was erratic. The 3rd floor AP was not connected to the Internet our entire stay. 2nd floor generally was, but had too many interruptions, and was much slower that at other hotels, even in small cities.
They have a book swap, but they charge 150 rupees per swap. Knowing new Books usually cost about 400 or 500 new in the shop, and even cheaper on the street, this is stupid.
Honestly, if these nights weren't our last in India, and if we hadn't been so tired, and so hot, we would have looked for another place.

The hotel is located inside a "gali" in paharganj and seems to be out of pace with the city. Every hotel in paharganj area suffers from the problem of parking space. You can't park your car anywhere near your hotel.
At hotel rak, the room size is small and the ventilation is not proper. The hotel has low occupancy and gives a feeling of insecurity. The room service is ok but the overall cleaniness is good. Stay here if you dont get a better place than this to stay in paharganj. Look for better options, preferably on the main road.

this is really the worstt place in delhi, main bazar. its not cheap at all for what you get. usually i don't mind when the price fit. but the worst is how the owner himself treats the customers, who already stayed there. the only nice thing i can say about it, are the employees, who work there. great funny guys who try everthing to make you feel well in this dark hole.

Dear Guest

I hope u remember the whole incident, you came at our place twice, and stayed for 14 days during ur first visit and I am sure you liked our place that's why u decided to come at our place for 2nd time and on ur second visit you've lost ur passport and you even also don't had any other identity proof with u so tell me how can we allow you to stay at our place,

Sir our hotel is govt. approved and we are answerable to govt of our each and every move and the thing that you wanted us(that is to allow you to stay at our place without having any identity proof) is absolutely illegal and we don't want us to involve in illegal work so if refusing you with this reason is rudeness than it's ok but we have to follow the rules and regulations prescribed by the Indian Govt.

this is BY FAR the worst hotel i've ever been in. the sheet is dirty the room is dusty (i have to wear sandals in the room the whole time) the hall is sooo dark that it took me more than 15 minutes to lock the door (oh and they used some old lock so it makes it all the more difficult to use) the bathroom is dirty (the roof and wall has mold in it) toilet is also dirty and old. room is also overpriced (800 rupee per night????) and they charged us 600 rupee for pick up taxi??? wow. and we needed to go to bus terminal so they searched for a taxi for us and it cost us 300 rupee and when i gave them the money they did not give the correct change so i had to ask more money! wow!
on the second time of me coming to paharganj (about 12 days later) i looked for a hotel and i found one decent hotel called star paradise and it's ten times better than Rak International (international? lol) it only cost me 500 rupee!!!
im sorry but lonely planet guide is not trustable (or maybe not updated?). filthy hotel.sorry.

a price bit to high for the standards. Though it´s not so cheap in Delhi compared it to e.g. Kolkaata. Good place to stay in paharganj. nice memories from this place. no window, a bit dark inside but friendly stuff and very helpful. a

Hotel Rak is a great option for budget travelers. It is clean, safe and very helpful personal. I have stayed here twice and both times had been really good. This will always be my sleeping home in Delhi.
