My wife and I enjoyed two stays at Chhoti Haveli--one at the beginning and one at the end of a six week trip in India. It was a perfect choice for us since we were simply stopping through Delhi on our way to and from other places via airline, and the guesthouse is only about a 15-20 minute taxi drive in traffic from the airport, thus sparing us from having to fight our way into and out of such a big and imposing city. At the time of our visit, there was a package on offer on their website that included bed, breakfast, and transit to and from the airport at a reasonable rate.

However, location and convenience for air travelers should certainly not be the only reason to recommend Chhoti Haveli. The rooms are beautiful, with an understated elegance that reflects the owners' care and attention to detail, and of course they're clean and tidy, as well. Breakfasts were delicious--simple, yet hearty and well-prepared. I left the table with a full belly ready to travel. Perhaps the best part, though, is the owners themselves. While we did not get a chance to meet Pawan, Surinder personally greeted us upon our arrival and sent us off on our departure, and she visited with us over breakfast, as well. She exudes a perfect blend of politeness and familiarity, and she made us feel right at home. For those looking for a longer stay in Delhi or nearby, I got the sense that she'd make an excellent host and resource for touring the surrounding areas, too. Overall, this is a great choice for the midrange traveller who appreciates a place with a personal touch.

After spending two and 1/2 weeks in the Udaipur area, the last two nights of our India trip were spent at Chhoti Haveli. Surinder is the perfect person for her job. She loves people and takes the time to get to know her guests, enjoys helping plan your days in Delhi, delights in appointing the rooms in a lovely, loving way. Rooms are small but spotless and there is a lovely sitting room and outdoor balcony festooned with flower petals to enjoy. I loved the Indian breakfast, tea time and the generous supply of water to take from the refrigerator. The Chhoti Haveli eco shopping bag is a wonderful souvenir. Access to a driver-for-the-day at a very reasonable rate was greatly appreciated.

My daughter and I had a very warm welcome at Chhoti Haveli from Surinder and Pawan when we first arrived in Delhi from UK. We stayed for three nights when we initially arrived in India and again three weeks later before our flight home. We were assisted in our planning for sightseeing and were able to use the family’s driver for a very reasonable daily rate. We enjoyed the freshly made masala or English tea whenever we asked for it, the delicious Indian or continental breakfasts and the use of the sitting area with computer use. The rooms were clean and comfortable, bottles of water could be taken from the fridge in the kitchen when required and we appreciated being able to order food to be delivered from a local restaurant in the evenings so we did not have to go out again. Surinder went out of her way to find out where we might buy young children’s books in Hindi and even posted the parcel of books to its charitable destination in southern Rajasthan for us after we returned to UK.

I stayed at the Chhoti Haveli for 4 weeks in Dezember 2013. I was more than happy with cleanness of the house, the friendliness of Mr and Mrs Maini and Tapa, the location itself, as well as the rich in variety breakfast and the very interesting people I met during my stay.
I highly recommend the chhoti haveli for anybody who is looking for a save and comfortable stay in New Delhi!

Regards, Nicolas

PS: Thank you Surinder for everything! :)

We can't recommend this place more highly. Comfortable rooms and beds, lovely breakfast, nice surroundings, and warm, personal service. Surinder, our host, was so helpful in recommending activities for our children, and making our stay special. In just 3 days she is now a friend. There are a few restaurants walking distance away - which is convenient. We went to one of them (Flaming Chili Pepper) twice as the food was so good. There are only 3 rooms, which makes it a very personal experience.

My partner and I stayed here on our first and last nights on our recent tour of Rajasthan.

By email Surinder had organised a car and driver for our two week trip which was made much easier as we were looked after from landing in Delhi until our return.

The room on the ground floor was fine the shower was hot and powerful, breakfast was great and the hospitality wonderful.

It didn't matter to us that it was out of the centre as the benefit from the quiet safe neighbourhood away from the noise and bustle outweighed that. We visited a couple of sites in Delhi with our driver on our way to Agra our next destination.

I would recommend this Homestay to anyone visiting Delhi especially for the proximity of the airport and the excellent breakfast and the hospitality in general.

Room Tip: We stayed in both downstairs rooms which were both very good, I assume the upstairs one is similar.
