“Has the makings but lacks the finish”
Reviewed 22 January 2011

Parkland is well located close to the Green Park metro, though the staff was courteous and the rooms spacious and reasonably furnished the experience was less than satisfactory

The biggest problem I had was with the quality of food which was atrocius and the wierd brand of mineral water offered complimentary during stay. The windows opened onto a road with heavy traffic.. I think there are better options at the price

absolutely unresponsive staff. Takes more than 1 hour to deliver two unpeeled unchopped apples. Does not provide towels / napkins and need 4 reminders in 1.5 hours to get these. Reservations even when confirmed well in advance are subject to availability. No one listens to the complaints - MOST traumatic stay ever in delhi in last 8 years

This is really a terrible experience. We stayed at Paharganj during our arrival in Delhi. So after back from Jaipur, we thought of splurge a little to stay at some decent 3 star hotel which is nearer to Metro. And after we paid US$ 200 a night, beside its near to the Green Park metro and the upmarket Saket shopping district, it does not worth every penny that we spent!!!

Delhi hotel is super expensive (don't know why). Even we don't expect the same quality we have from other develop city, but we are hoping its near. But this one is no where close. US$200 a night, this is only a 2 stars class. The staffs attitude is horrible. Not even deserve to be a hotel personnel. Especially the staffs at the restaurant during the breakfast, they were chatting and ignore us. One have to call them for coffee and almost anything. The lights are also off when guests are dining.

We paid more to get a deluxe room. The room is fine. But smelly. They put something inside the drainage. Water heater is almost not working. We showered on cold water the first night. Aircon is not working. Infact the first room is at 2nd floor and still spacious and has got a view. Until the air con is not working, they transferred us to the "store room" in the middle of the night. Consider we paid US$200 a night , and there we are, in a gloomy small room, overlooking the back lane. More ever, its behind the kitchen. We can hear people walking , talking and cooking the WHOLE NIGHT!!!Absolutely nightmare. We were so regreat that we could have pay another hundred more to enjoy in a 5 stars Hilton! But since we've booked and paid from the internet.

The irony part is, when we check out and waiting for the cab in the lobby, the staff came to us and ask us wether we are happy with the hotel. What a joke!!!! I understand Parkland is a sizable hotel group in India. It's a true shame that's what they can offer. We were so dissappointed.

For those who likes the area, there is another hotel beside this. Maybe one can check it out!

The location is especially suited for those who like to stroll, in a leafy suburb with Green Park about a km away. Quiet, interesting streets with some superb old architectural features, especially gates; squirrels and green parrots everywhere, and deer in the park; great flowers and trees. Temple ruins and a modern temple are close. The Indian food in the hotel is delicious, delicately spiced, economical compared to the central Delhi hotels, and served by attentive, friendly staff. Rooms are very modest but clean, cool and with comfortable beds. The room staff are helpful. No decent views, unfortunately, and note that it is far from central Delhi (but worth it).

I had been to Delhi in Aug on an emergency work. I had to reach out to the hotel on my own as there was no pick up from them.

On reaching the hotel, the room was very very small and the bed and the position of the table, bed and wardrobe was such that there was hardly any space to move. You cannot stay for more than 1 day.

The food was ok ,

The morning breakfast was not what you expect.

The service was good but it looked lethargic to me.

The reception area was with people who sounded very aggressive and less customer friendly....

I will definitely not take this hotel except if i do not have any choices.

Had great fun in our taxi trying to find this hotel and ended up driving the wrong way down a one way dual carriageway to eventually get to it - horses for courses in India! The lobby was impressive albeit the staff somewhat indifferent. This was the second hotel we stayed in on our tour round Northern India - in comparison to the first, this one had much more comfortable, clean rooms, however the bathroom was still a bit touch and go. Construction works outside and the incessant piped music in the corridor were all a bit much when it came to trying to get to sleep. Bank on the corner, Domino's pizza nearby, but no other restaurants of amenities to speak of nearby. Was not near the metro either and a taxi into town took a good 20-30 minutes. Food was OK, but overall not an ideai hotel for Delhi sightseeing.

We stayed at the Parkland the first two nights of our 15 day tour of Northern India. The hotel itself is nice with large rooms and clean bathrooms. However, it is located in a lousy part of South Delhi - then again all of Delhi didn't look particularly attractive with pollution and garbage everywhere - with a lot of construction nearby putting in a new Metro line. The hotel is not close to anything so if you want to eat you will have to take a cab. We did find a couple of places to eat but the best place - Park Balluchi - was a good 30 minute walk away from the hotel. The service at the front desk was a little indifferent. They did not always seem to always understand what I was requesting and I often did not fully understand what they were saying. But that's Indians trying to speak English in general.

  • Liked — Rooms were large and bathrooms were clean.
  • Disliked — Location and dirty surroundings.
