“Beautiful medium budget hotel”

Best hotel I've stayed in, after 10 years traveling around India. Great location, nice decor, very clean rooms, and courteous staff. Highly recommend the tandoori fro the restaurant. Good choice for either a backpacker who fancies a mini-splurge, or a higher budget traveler wanting good quality accommodation.

We found Jyoti Mahal through trip advisor for our recent low budget trip around the Golden Triangle. A little gem of a hotel tucked away in a fairly scruffy part of town; it boasts fantastic Rajastani decor, working hot water, good speed wifi in all areas of the hotel and a rooftop restaurant that serves great food from the in-house tandor.

I stayed at the Jyoti Majal twice during my recent trip to India. The location is hard to beat, though there are a number of hotels in this area. I enjoyed the decor of the foyer and other 'shared' areas including the rooftop restaurant; and the Rajastani theme and generous proportions of the rooms. The room was cleaned and maintained daily and the water was hot though you should expect regular blackouts during the day. The wifi worked - even in the rooms. The pick up and airport service even at 3.00 am and 4.00am was reliable. Room service was good; the food excellent and cheap and the desk help was adequate but lacked the personal interest and dedication of western-style hotel service.

I have stayed at Jyoti Mahal a few times (yes, I keep coming back because I haven't found anything better yet!). While some rooms are really very nice and spacious, I have also been given barely furnished rooms around the second courtyard at the back, and these rooms felt like they were not finished or that they were in urgent need of renovation! Compared to the many fleapits I've been to in the last 20 years, this place is clean, which is sometimes all you need. The advertised 75 sqm or even 90 sqm rooms are a total exageration! Expect about half these sizes and be happily surprized.
The rooftop restaurant is great. The food is good, the salads are divine, especially after a few weeks without fresh greens! They even have decent coffee, however, the set breakfast is nothing to get up for!
So, it's not a cheap place, and for the cost of the rooms I would rather have a kettle to boil water rather than a bulky useless TV... But it's clean and the rooftop restaurant is really nice.
I heard that the owners got some advice re. interior decoration by an Australian designer, which explains to me why it's working so well. There is someting very charming about this place, even if it's not perfect.
The reception desk is helpful, even if they can seem a bif aloof at times, and the general staff are charming and lovely.

Room Tip: Ask not to be given a room in the second courtyard at the back.

Not chi chi but colurful neighborhood ! The hotel is run with a casual bent . It deserves a better reception desk for what is offered in the hotel. Huge rooms , clean , with high ceilings and a flair of old Rajasthan furniture ! There is no CNN or BBC and that's a bummer . Indian TV just doesnt do it for me ! Breakfast on the roof terrace is a delight. Mostly international guests seem to be frequenting the hotel . It's the second time I stayed there and I wish the lobby had improved in the last 3 years but not so .. .Must say this could be a gem of a hotel that deserves more efficient management to make it shine !

Was recommended this hotel by a friend and it was definitely worth the stay okay it's a bit more expensive than most hotels in Delhi but worth it, the decor in the hotel is really good with a traditional Rajasthan flavour including the rooms and the bed was really comfortable with soft pillows and a quilt(of sorts). It is clean and the staff are very helpful we had originally booked to stay for four nights 18-21/01/13 via email and arranged a pick up from the airport our plans changed we informed the hotel by e mail and they promptly responded having changed the booking. We arrived late in the evening and the roof top restaurant was closed the staff there managed to make us a delicious dinner with wonderful chai I suppose the only negative was the wi-fi was really slow. We was sad that we couldn't stay longer especially as we had planned to get some last minute bits incense and oils at the near by main bazaar but the shops didn't open until 10.30-11. Will definitely stay there again next time we are in Delhi.

Located near Main Bazar Street, street full of restaurants and nice shops (jewelry, clothing). Many regulars (European retailers sourcing from wholesale Delhi). Pretty quiet place. Rooms are well furnished and spacious. The terrace which houses the restaurant is not development and sale (as well as keeping servers and cooks and pages of menus). Neglected maintenance (electrical doubtful). Staff very efficient. Opportunity to negotiate the price of the rooms. Be sure until the last moment (mail, telephone) that the reservation has been taken into account (it can not be done on the website and does not require a credit card number). Allows to store luggage for several days (practice). Free internet (3 positions). Neighborhood: excellent restaurant Malhotra.
