if u hate urself, choose this hotel. They try to give flimsy reasons for not having your reservation, from expedia! then for a journey which apparently costs 350 they want 750!! Then they give u every reason to checkout early!!!! they food though tastes OK costs u as much as a premium destination in zurich...worst of all forget the airport pickup.

My wife and I have just returned from a trip to India, we stayed at the Aura Hotel on Arakashan Road, New Delhi and had a great time. The hotel is approx 5 minutes from New Delhi railway station, 10 minutes to the Red Fort and 10 minutes to India Gate, Chowdni Chowk and Connaught Place are similar distances and are worth a visit (all by Tuck-Tuck) for shopping.
I would say the hotel was probably 3 star, we stayed in room 201 at the front, although the road outside is busy (they all are in Delhi) we did not hear much noise and we had no trouble sleeping. There is a restaurant on the roof where there is a good range of lunches, dinners, snacks etc available and you can also get my personal favourite 'Kingfisher' beer, all at a very reasonable cost. Francis is in charge of the restaurant, he is a very nice man and makes sure you have your breakfast in your room if you are going out early as we did. We had a safety deposit box in our room, as we were away for 5 days we left money etc and had no problems. All the staff are very polite and cannot do enough for you. The hotel also offer a travel service which we used to go to Shimla and Amritsar, the service was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel picked us up from the airport as part of the room and breakfast arrangement we had with them, a taxi back to the airport worked out to approx £6.00.
We were very comfortable staying here and would not hesitate to return (using the hotel's travel service is so much easier and probably cheaper than you could do yourself).

We spent 3nights in this hotel. Hotel is near to New Delhi Railway station. Hotel is situated in a very noisy place in Paharganj, so I would have preferred a room without a window. When I emailed the hotel to confirm our stay the day before they have offered to pick us up from the airport, so we provided them with all the details. We came to Delhi airport at 1AM and the taxi wasnt there. When I called the hotel to see whats going on they put me through to the taxi drivers phone and he asked us to wait 40mins. This was very disappointing.

The biggest issue was the bill. We booked this hotel via booking.com and once we checkout from the hotel we settled our bill for the stay. After 2 whole months they charged us extra INR2000 from our credit card without any notice. So my husband had to mail booking.com and we were able to provide the billing proof and at last they refunded charged INR2000

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

I arrived at the hotel for check-in time and was shown to a delightful double room. Unfortunately I had booked and paid for a triple with two beds as a friend would be joining me later on in the day.

Returning to reception I asked for another room and was told that the only triple rooms were occupied. As a courtesy they had allowed the families in them to have a late check out and I was basically being asked to wait til two o'clock when they had vacated a room. I had to be really firm and asked what courtesy services they would offer me if I was to wait. Neither a free evening meal nor airport shuttle was acceptable to them so I stuck to my guns and refused to wait. A larger room was hastily cleaned and I was in occupancy within fifteen minutes.

The room was clean and beautifully decorated and fitted. The second bed although a put you up was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and courtesy toiletries were provided. The air con worked very efficiently ; although it took ages to get the hot water to come through, it was plentiful when it arrived.

If one wishes to be near New Delhi Station, this hotel is probably as good as it gets in this price range and Arakashan Road is a lot nicer than others close to the station in which I have stayed. Apart from the rocky start, all the hotel staff were charming and mostly very helpful.

We ate on the rooftop terrace which is very pretty despite the ugliness of its surroundings. The food was tasty and arrived quickly. No wine was available, just bottled beers. Despite this we enjoyed our food. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and varied.

As we were both arriving by train initially, we had actually pre-paid for a shuttle which arrived in good time to allow us a comfortable journey to the airport.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the longer the hot water takes to reach it.

Room was somewhat cleanish but bed sheets were so dirty we slept in our sleeping bags. It didn't have windows but the air-conditioning worked well.
Breakfast was okay but nothing special. However considering the dirty and cheap area the hotel is located in it is probably the best option to take it there.

At first the service welcomed us nicely when we arrived around 2 am and we were happy to be able to access our room quickly.
Afterwards the service became pathetic when we quickly declined their travel desks advances to sell us over-prized travel services.
We had to ask several times for the wifi password for our floor which they finally reluctantly gave us. Further they charged us the complimentary water for the second night, arguing that we wouldn't stay the full day... well, check-out is always at 10 am, so nobody stays the full second day.
It's small things that added up to feel unwelcome and showed us that they considered us just as a walking wallet, not as guests. Sadly a common experience in India.

As per the booking done we were supposed to be dropped to airport next day but this was flatly refused saying that we had picked u from Nizamabad rly station for which we said that amount we will pay and paid Rs 500.00 but now they had a different reason to refuse saying that our luggage was more and the cab driver shouting that he was not going to drop us WHY???? why he had to do this just because of more luggage ..but u have to know that we were traveling by air and will have minimum luggage which i think u are aware of the premissable baggage ...and all the staff were so stubborn that we had very very tough time getting through this and above all that ON 20 AND 21 FEB HARTAL WAS ANNOUNCED ......NOW U CAN IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF HARDSHIP AND TENSION WE HAD TO FACE ...IN FACT EVEN THE TRAVEL DESK PERSON JOINED THE SHOW .............NOW WE REQUEST TO REFUND THE MONEY ........

LAST ONE BUT NOT THE LEAST ......Mr DIMRI IS NOT A FAMILY MAN ....HE IS MONEY MAN ......

AND NEVER SUGGEST AURA HOTEL TO ANYONE ANYONE

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your incomplete feedback at tripadvisor. You did not mention anything about room, cleanness, food, security etc......

We would like to inform you that this is a service industry and must remember that if you want service YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR.Standard check in and check out time is 12:00 noon, you came early and asked for room, Front office manager gave you room so early.Think positive if he could not provide you room for more than four hours what you can feel four hours. If he asked for Rs.500 for early checkin what's wrong. You paid for the service.

Again same thing is with dropping to airport with extra baggage, if paid extra we have nothing to do with. If taxi man asked for extra money what's wrong with it. You are travelling with family with so many bags which was not fit for normal car.

Regarding strike please tell us how we are responsible for.
