Description: Vega' - the legacy of authentic North Indian vegetarian cuisine has been passed on from the original pioneering restaurant at Hotel Alka Vega stays true to the finer subtleties of North Indian cuisine, using only the finest, most fragrant, warmest spices delicately blended together in harmony with one another to prepare an assortment of gastronomic delights cooked the traditional way. Food is cooked in pure desi ghee, without onion or garlic, with only the freshest of ingredients, and promises to take you back to childhood memories of your grandmother's kitchen. The royal 'thalis' on the menu offer a five-course meal fit for a king or queen. Additionally, be sure to try their Bherinvi Aloo with authentic chutney and their specially prepared Indian breads on offer - the Paratha Adrak and Paratha Hari Mirch are definite must haves. Traditional drinks like aam ka panna, jal jeera, thandai and chaach make for perfect thirst quenchers on a hot day. The decor and attention given to detailing of the interiors promises an immersive experience - Miniature paintings adorn the walls and the chandelier in the middle of the room transports you to the older parts of Delhi, where food is still prepared according to secrets passed on from one generation to another and hours are spent in ensuring culinary perfection within kitchens. The earthy tones of its interiors warmly embrace you as you cross its threshold into a space where modern aesthetics meet traditional values and sensibilities. Vega promises you an unrivaled eating experience and will have you coming back for more - a high level of craft and finesse combined with a passion for an authentic and wholesome experience ensures that simple dishes are transformed into a fine dining experience

We love this place, hidden away in Alka 3 star hotel in Connought Place, right next to Sarvana Bhavan and near McDonalds.

My parents have been patrons for many years whenever they used to visit Delhi, however, it was our first time here today in almost 15 years.

The food - Very delicious, served hot and fresh in LARGE quantities. 3 dishes good for 5 people. The breads are to die for. Pure vegetarian - no onion/garlic. No Alcohol served here, however they have a full bar upstairs if you're so inclined. This apparently keep the ambiance "family friendly" and I tend to agree.

Service - Polite, quick and efficient.

I was told that the place is packed for lunch, even though when we went for dinner on a weekday, there were quite a few tables available.

I enjoyed dining here. I sampled the lunchtime menu with my wife. Excellent. I enjoyed the Taster menu in the evening with some friends, but more of that later.

When I glanced in here early in October I was initially put off by both the 'expense account' diners ... a sign of high prices and one hell of a mark up on the drinks ... and what another reviewer designated 'garish' ... opulent, decadent, 'has a distinct style' and 'over the top' could all be applied to the décor with equal validity ... this restaurant harks back to the heavy flock wallpaper and dimly lit Indian restaurants opened in the UK in the early 60's which tried and failed to suggest such 'classy and opulent' surroundings for quality eating. The use of broad copper tubing to cover the ceiling facilities speaks volumes.

The food however was truly excellent with dishes up to the standard of one Michelin starred Indian fusion place in the UK and nearly up to the exceptional standard of the Taj Banjara. The non-veg Taster menu was expensive but an exceptional and almost exquisite example of fusion cooking taken from an Indian perspective. All my friends enjoyed this menu, even though we rarely agree on most things. We all rated this place excellent.

The waiters, like all staff in 'posh' places try to intimidate customers unsure of themselves or their status, so let self-confidence be your watchword.

The drinks are overpriced and so a real self indulgence. I would happily recommend this place to all my friends with the caution of separate your eating from your drinking and enjoy the food ... its worth the relative expense.

This place is really garish with red lamps and embroidery on the ceiling and walls. Its extremely dimly lit and resembles a bad pub instead of a fine dining restuarant. The service of this place is PATHETIC. The hostess was busy chatting on the phone. We were shown in by disinterested sour faced waiter/steward. The staff here has a general disdain for Indian customers although they charge the same amount for all guests and color of money is still the same for everyone. For every dish we requested the steward would tell us "it will take some time." Its quite suprising being told this in a fine dining place. We obviously didnt come in for fast food at this place. I would think he would like me to order more and bring in more profit for the restuarant but he kept discouraging us with "it will take time attitude." The food though was excellent and appropriately flavored but the bad service and sour faces of the staff left a bad taste. Please avoid this place unless you dont mind the bad attitude.
