Be aware this is Pahar Ganj so the area is like a live version of Dantes inferno, dirty crowded noisy polluted. Initial impression was a bit off putting, the staff seemed a bit prickly. I paid 550 r per night for a room with no windows, but advantage no noise. Room was clean, this was in March 2012 so quite cold so no need for aircon so cant comment there. And no issue with insects. TV was good. Shower was hot but a bit clogged up so more like a hose. I think you can get them down to 500 or less per single room but what the hell. Over 3 weeks got to know the staff and they were great. Friendly and helpful. Showed me good place to get washing done 15 r for a shirt etc. Went out and got me beer. 100r per large bottle so not too much mark up from the wine store price of 70-80. Last few nights moved to a room with window for 750 r per night. But the power cut on the first night in new room saw the damned generator start up for 1 hour right outside window. But hell this is Pahar Ganj. Pascal the room boy was great. Got me stuff, gave me advice on eating. All staff turned out to be great and honest.

Wow what an experience. Don't stay at this hotel...the hotel staff are menacing and very aggressive. As a frequent visitor to India I turned up to meet a friend at the hotel arriving at 6 in the morning. On our way out to breakfast the manager asked for 2 nights rent from me. I queried this as I hadn't stayed the previous night merely arrived early morning. He became abusive towards me so I decided to pack my bags and leave. When I came back down to the lobby he had actually padlocked the front doors and wouldn't let me and my friend out until I had paid for 2 nights. I won't go on and on but I would advise any female traveller NOT to stay here as I felt in danger from the staff.

There were more times when the power was out than when it was on. The staff only speak minimal English and were no help at all when we tried asking for information and a phone to book other hotels during our stay in India.

We rented out a room only for day-use as we were due to leave on an overnight train late in the evening but the hotel still charged us full-price.

The worst thing about it was the bathroom looked clean enough but as soon as I took a shower, more than a DOZEN COCKROACHES appeared from a hole in the drain under the sink - disgusting!

The hotel is fine compared to many other Paharganj hotels and guest houses. Quiet at night, which can be hard to come by. Not too clean, but not too bad either. Friendly enough.

My only complaint is about the taxi the hotel arranged for me when I was going to the airport. The arrangement was supposed to be 250 rs for a taxi early in the morning. That is also the price written on a sign in the reception area. When I got down to leave, they demanded 150 rs in addition as socalled "tax". I was very tired (4.25 am) and confused, and got it down to 100 rs extra. However, it shouldn`t be more than 250 rs, so beware if they try to rip anyone else off in the same fashion, just downright refuse.

In addition they threw in two other travellers in the same taxi, although we had all paid for our own taxi. Needless to say, the price for the taxi was not reduced or shared accordingly.

My husband and I wanted to find a reasonably cheap hotel in Delhi. We were there 22 years ago and prices has really gone up. We went to Rak International which was listed in our Lonely Planet guide book. They were full, but the hotel next door which was connected- Hotel Gush International had a few rooms available. We asked to see all three rooms and chose the largest and the one with the most windows. The price was 700 rupees a night. The room was clean as were the sheets. The main manager of Rak International was very helpful in answering our many questions. They have a pleasant roof garden cafe. It was interesting to sit up there and watch the locals on their rooftops. The only thing we didn't like was the dogs barking at night! But that would have been anywhere in the Paharganj area.
