As a woman traveling alone, I wanted a safe place to stay. Amaaya was my home away from home. Ruma and I became good friends by the end of my 8-day trip and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I go to Delhi. A delicious served in the sunlit dining room each morning and then, one is free to explore the city. Amaaya is centrally located near Humayun's Tomb and is a quick auto-rickshaw ride from all the major centres of New Delhi. It is a serene oasis in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of Delhi. Each room has a private balcony overlooking a quiet street. You won't be disappointed if you stay there.

This place is a gem. The owner and her daughter are friendly, helpful, and fun, and the apartment is understated and beautiful. Best of all is the food - simple vegetarian Indian food bursting with flavor. They fed me right off the plane, and that first spoonful might have been the best moment of my vacation! Nizammudin is not my favorite neighborhood, but there's plenty to do and transportation elsewhere is easily available and cheap.

Our journey through India could not have got off to a better start. Ruma extends a warm welcome to her guests, her apartment is tranquil, the bedrooms very comfortable, and the location is perfect. It's difficult to believe that such a restful home is so near the bustle and confusion of Delhi .

Our group consisted of two women with two teenagers. We occupied two bedrooms with attached baths. Our rooms were beatifully furnished. The linens were immaculately clean. Our beds were comfortable, with blankets and comforters that kept us warm. We appreciated the hot shower, bath mat, organic soaps and fluffy towels. The spiced Chai was fantastic. With advance notice, we ate lunch on site. The food was simple local cuisine, freshly cooked using organic produce. One of our group had a special diet restriction, and we appreciated that the meal was tailored to our request. The location was perfect for our sightseeing - 15 minutes to Khan Market, 30 minutes to Connaught Place, 45 minutes to Red Fort during morning rush hour, 35 minutes from the Airport. The neighborhood is quiet, residential, and gated with security. Early morning sounds are bird calls, and the distance sound of trains as they go through Nizamuddin Station (muffled by double paned glass windows and doors, about a quarter mile away from this home). The rooms are on the 3rd floor, no elevator. There is no traffic outside the home. I did not use the service, but massages are available onsite.

We were lucky to find this place because the B&B we have actually booked was overbooked - Ruma is an extremely nice and caring host, we came book on each of our stops in Dehli during our trip through India. The location is actually also really good.

I stayed at Amaaya only one evening, before leaving India to return to NYC, and I'm looking forward to returning to stay with Ruma again as soon as I can. Her place is so beautifully appointed, so fresh and clean and modern yet simple and uncluttered. It is airy and bright and so welcoming. It's a refreshing way to offset the exhaustion of Delhi! Breakfast was simple and delicious, and Ruma was so delightful to talk with. I highly recommend Amaaya!

on our trip, we returned 2 times to Rumas place. The first time because we missed our flight due to heavy fog and the second time because we wanted a few hours of rest before we went flying back home. Ruma helped us with her warm and wise nature with train tickets, hot drinks, soup and hot-water bags through cold days and made them sunny! the rooms are very elegant and tasteful and showed, that Ruma has got style. I really recommend this homestay and all in all it is one of the most charming places in Delhi.
