I prefer this hotel in New Delhi as it is very economical. But you should have to be careful in surrounding area. Many pick picketers are around. Rooms are good. Mr. Amit is very nice man who is manager of this hotel.

On 24 December night 11pm, my family of 5 arrived Hotel Shiv Palace and were told there were no rooms for us despite our confirmation with Agoda. There were no explanations given, the staff could not speak English. At such a late hour we had no choice but to follow whatever Shiv Palace arranged for us. They brought us to Hotel Milan Continental which is a few doors away and the staff showed us to 2 rooms at Level 2.
After our late dinner in the room, to my horror, a rat came out from corner of the bed and went near the bin where we disposed the packets. The rat could have smelt food. The staff did not manage to catch the rat. We packed our luggage and wanted to move out. The staff retained us by giving another room which faced the street. Moving cars were noisy and honking. I lose sleep, no idea whether it was due to noise or the traumatic experience. We adapted to the environment on the second and third nights. The district was unsafe after 10pm, according to the locals at an eating house at that district
I can't comment about the cleanliness of Shiv Palace because my family did not get to stay there. If comparing the pictures, we were shortchanged and tolerated 3 nights at a dirtier hotel not of our choice. At the time of checking out, Hotel Milan Continental staff demanded payment from us. We asked them to get from Shiv Palace Hotel.
