Owner description: The focus of this open-air memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is a black marble platform marking the place where the peace leader was cremated after his assassination in 1948. It's a peaceful, beautiful site; memorial ceremonies are held on Fridays.

Raj Ghat is the beautiful place to visit once you were in New delhi.
I love the place and the ways of decor. the place is hot but the crowds
are comparatively less and good to walk around.

“Important stop / Reminder of how we got here”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Every visiting dignitary will visit here. Every Indian should visit here. Its a quiet reminder of our independence, our democracy and our freedom. A reminder to be a participating citizen, peacefully.

“Tranquil and Contemplative”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

You should not miss this site. It is a spacious, tranquil, and well maintained garden that contains the cremation cite of Mahatma Gandhi. We were there in summer...yes, hot, but the crowds were minimal and we enjoyed it thoroughly. When you combine Raj Ghat with a visit to Gandhi's residence in Delhi, as well as the site of his assassination, I think that you will find the experience surprisingly moving and a highlight of your trip. Something unexpected, but truly special.

“Peaceful memorial”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Barely mentioned in tourist brochures this is a very important sight to visit and one held dear to many locals. There were hoards of school children when I visited. The memorial park to Gandhi is huge and not very well signposted. A ramp leads down to lockers where you must leave your shoes and then you enter the sunken garden which marks the site of his cremation. There is a black marble slab draped in flowers and an eternal flame burning. Before you leave there is a small gift shop with the very reasonably priced "Gandhi's Life in his own words" for just 5Rs.

“Beautiful tribute”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Nice gardens and tribute to Gandhi. No shade and very hot walking if you remove your shoes. Security guards make sure everyone is quiet and respectful. An interesting stop for a short visit.
