During the week they bring you the traditional tower of sandwiches, scones and sweets. But on the weekend they do a buffet and you can just help yourself. It's a really nice tea in a setting as close to the Raj as you can get. The one odd thing is that the teas are brewed from tea in teabags, rather than loose leaf tea: a strange choice for an establishment that otherwise puts so much effort into doing it all the proper way. I mean, if you can't find loose leaf tea in India, you cannot be looking too hard. There is a big variety of teas to choose from, though and you can try several varieties. The service is wonderful and attentive, and, at least at the weekend buffet, you can hang out for a good long time and sample all the yummies as much as you like. ( The clotted cream was really good, too. Thick and rich. ) Compared to tea you'd get in similarly swanky hotels in London, the price here is also quite good.

Its scrumptious. Ive even arranged tete-a-tetes with the press over the Imperial's high tea. Its silver service and has the best scones and sandwiches.

After a hot chaotic day in Delhi, there is no better way to unwind than having afternoon tea at the Imperial. The choice in the buffet (available in weekends) was great and everything I tried was excellent (from scones, to sandwiches, to eclairs). But the real star is the hotel itself, a magnificent building from the 1930s, very lush and full of history - fantastic!!

Atmosphere of old England in this conservatory room where not only any sort of tea and scones are served but everything else you may desire is here. Leave some space for dinner!
