We spent three nights at The Imperial in a Deco Room (good size and lovingly furnished). The hotel is very impressive - art deco, built in 1911 and immaculately maintained. The art collection alone is worth a visit but the quality of staff, facilities and catering made this for us an exceptional stay. Everything was just beautiful! Worth a special mention are the Spice Route and Daniel's Tavern restaurants - we rated the Indian tasting menu at Spice Route at 8.5/10 and the lamb shoulder at Daniel's Tavern at 10/10. The fitness centre is also great - you can get a proper weight training workout - and the spa offerings were excellent. The prices by Australian standards were very reasonable.

Room Tip: I didn't see any bad rooms

We stayed at the imperial for 3 days. The service is top notch. Albert and his asst. we're able to track down and retrieve my passport that had been inadvertently left on the plane from udaipur. So kind and positive. The pool is a welcome plus in the very hot Delhi summer. A respite in a very crowded and chaotic city. The hotel arranged transportation to Agra for us and our driver, Deepak was superb. He was an excellent driver and very kind and funny as well as personable in telling us more about local life. Highly recommend dining at the spice route as it is an evening we will not forget. Excellent thai and Asian food with service that is of the highest standard.

Beautiful, stylish hotel with wonderful artwork & decor that creates an authentic colonial setting. The service is excellent, doormen & women very friendly & welcomed me "home" when I returned every day. Concierge & reception staff very welcoming & helpful. Rooms are very comfortable with large size bed, quality bed linen & accessories. My room on the first floor overlooked the garden & was very quiet. The pool is a nice temperature & the jacuzzi a welcome retreat after a long day.
Breakfast is served in the 1911 restaurant with more than ample choice of continental & hot food & takeaway for breakfast on the go. Dinner at the 1911 also very good, they kindly adapted food at my request for vegetarian versions of the meals on offer. Lots of vegetarian options & serves both western & authentic indian food. Close to janpath market if you like haggling for scarves, flip flops & local gifts. Great location & a gem of a hotel. I wish I could have stayed longer and will certainly return.

I realize that title is making a bold statement - but I have travelled the world over and cannot think of a more impressive hotel. Staying here is like travelling back in time - to British India of the 1920's. The Art Deco building will no doubt be a future World Heritage Site, if not for the architecture, then for the history. This hotel, complete with 7 different museums contained within, played host to events which truly impacted the entire earth. Gandi negotiated the partition agreement with Pakistan - in *THIS* hotel. Each room is full of antiques, the service is amazing, the grounds (8 acres of gardens) impressive. You are missing the opportunity of a lifetime if you travel to Delhi and fail to stay here.

The Imperial Hotel is an oasis in the middle of a wonderful, crazy, crowded, noisy city.
Staff and service are top notch, the property is spotless clean. The hotel is packed with artworks which brings you to the old colonial times. Spa experience - a dream!
My favorite place: The 1911 Bar with a beautiful Veranda where you can sit for hours and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Stayed here for the second time, and will DEFINITELY be back!
