Lovely grounds. Very modern interior. Comfortable rooms. Great views of New Delhi from every side of building. Not impressed with the food at the Chinese restaurant on 20th floor, but very good dining in Club Room on 20th floor and "The One" lobby restaurant. Not for kids.

Fantastic hotel, contemporary and tastefully designed. Rooms are very comfortable and the mood lighting is an extra special touch.
The staff are pleasant and service is always with a smile to say the least. Beauty salon not great but still okay. The hotel experience overall was great and I will certainly be going back.

Located in the heart of leafy New Delhi, the hotel is within a short drive of key attractions. The rooms have been renovated, although the hardwood floors have aged terribly. They tried to give a post-modern feel to the decorations. Food was acceptable, although not particularly delicious but didn't result in a forced trip to the bathroom after.

Average 5 star hotel in India. We stayed in the hotel at the start and end of our 2 week trip around India in early September. Staff were friendly, but not really accomodating or helpful. Impressive lobby and neat rooms. The food is good, but expensive. You need to check your order as they often "forget" things. A single cup of tea costs 5 euros, which is excessive, so ask before you buy. Don't try the spa - the facilities are terrible, cramped and dirty. Staff are dismissive. Hotel cars are pricey - better to get a cab called up from outside the hotel. Don't get the hotel to organise outtings either as they are about 3 to 4 times the going rate. The cab drivers outside can get you much better deals. Starwood Preferred Guests don't seem that "preferred" in this hotel. We wouldn't stay here again unless all the other hotels in Delhi were full.

As my booking was done by my company, the check-in was so fast that
I was surpised. It took probably just 2 minutes.

The lady at the reception, Ms Latika Behra was oozing with confidence and
she surprised me by asking if I would like a cup of coffee or tea being sent
to my room. when I said there must be arrangements for making coffee in
the room, she did say yes but then did offer to send a prepared coffee. No
doubt I accepted the offer and got the nice coffee within few minutes of my
going to the room. I believe it was good because as soon as u check-in you
are in no mood to prepare a coffee yourself.

The service and everything about the hotel was very good.

An important caveat to this review: I have only been to India twice (Mar & Aug 2010) and stayed at this Le Meridien both times on business. So I do not have an "Indian hotel" frame of reference.

However, I was disappointed both times considering I paid roughly $350 per night for a suite (it was the Starpoints that brought me back!). For a self-proclaimed 5-star, this property falls short.

CONS: The guestroom floors were very dirty both stays (a walk around in socks or bare feet would collect serious dust, dirt, etc.). There were pistachio nut shells on the floor that stayed there all week (I left them to judge the cleaning). Both my shower and bathroom sink drains backed up, and were not fixed after my first request. The second request worked.

The travel desk is EXCEEDINGLY unhelpful. What should be a fun job that attracts enthusiastic, concierge-type people was staffed both times by grumpy people who wanted nothing less than to be left alone. That is, when they were actually at the desk. Don't rely on them to help you get to Agra or make any sort of recommendation. They will only do what you explicitly order them to do!

The outdoor pool and deck area on the 4th floor could be a real asset, but it's only creepy. I went out for a swim and found an empty area and a round pool filled with waterbugs. And this is after the renovation!

The staff are fairly aggressive in seeking tips. The guys in the bathrooms who try to wash your hands for you are annoying and make you feel guilty regularly.

PROS: Front desk staff has been helpful. Room service is tasty and affordable. Nero Bar, while usually empty and depressing, has great staff and soothing decor. Great exec lounge happy hour from 6 - 8 pm each day. Good Internet service.

SUMMARY: I would have been pissed to pay $350 per night at a hotel in the U.S. and experience those cons. That said, for all I know this might be the nicest hotel in India. These are just my honest and candid observations! I will look into other Starwood properties next time, I think I had enough of this Le Meridien.
