“beware of laundry service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

I had given my jacket for ironing on 7th morning, with tie pins pinned on my jacket, which was very conviniently removed and not given back to me with my jacket. I complained to Lobby Mgr. Mr. Amit. However, he showed total indifference. Calld Laundry and guess what??? I was blamed for it!! Why did you leave this precious pin on your cloth?? You shd ave removed it if it was so valuable..And we shall see if we find it otherwise you just have to let go..Callous..indifferent and dont care attitude..

Dear Guest,

Greetings from The Ashok!

It is most unfortunate to read your feedback and comments on the experience with our team. The issue raised by you is distressing and we are looking into it with great concern. However, we request you to share your stay details with us to enable us to investigate the matter in depth since unfortunately; we could not find your stay details nor give explanatory call to the said Lobby Manager, as there is no Lobby Manager by the name of Mr. Amit.

Inconvenience regretted.

WoW!! What a grand property amidst lush green and centrally located.

As you enter, the hotel is indeed a huge property, the grand lobby and the reception will definitely impress you. The rooms are neat and well maintained though the structure is old. The service was good, but the food was not very great, it was disappointing as we were looking forward to some yummy North Indian cuisine.

Rooms seems to be renovated recently. Light system is good but it takes time to find out which switch will do what. I could not get night lamp and finally decided to switch off all the lights. Few lights in the lobby and corridor seems to be power consuming. Hotel should start using CFL or power saving systems. Bed and linen were very good.

While moving around the hotel, one would feel that there is no life. The staff, through courteous do not smile. The life in hotel is not what you will see in other private hotels.

Hotel should take efforts to save the nature and environment.

Getting taxi and rickshaw from hotel is quite easy.

Overall if you compare it with the tariff, then it is certainly cozy for the pocket.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from The Ashok!

Thank you for sparing your valuable time and sharing your thoughts with us. Undoubtedly, hotel is the only of its kind & has a massive spreadover of 25 acres in the diplomatic enclave of Capital. I am glad that we could impress you to quite an extent and made your stay comfortable.

We always appreciate hearing from our guests especially regarding the places for improvement and I am delighted to receive such an informative feedback, which indeed is a great learning source for us.

We share your concern towards saving energy and are in process of switching from incandescent bulbs to CFL/LED in a phased manner.

Looking forward for the pleasure of welcoming you again!

Regards,

This is not the first time I stayed in this huge hotel and probably not the last time either.
This is the most convenience option if you have a conference in this hotel.

Checking in was smooth in comparison to my previous experience and that is creditable as this was during a big international conference in this hotel itself.
Initially I got a room in a farthest corner of the hotel after the corridor carpet ended and in front of a lift and was not happy with it.
The key card was not working and all you need to kick the door to open!
The washroom was sub standard and stinking.

I requested for a change of room and thankfully they agreed. A senior staff(most of them are) came with a bunch of key cards.
The one opposite to mine simply refused to open.
Then there was another without any window which I had to refuse.
Then he took me one step up on the opposite wing.
This room was better and bigger.
And on the front side.
I accepted the room and he smilingly accepted a currency note which he was expecting:-)

The staffs are polite and helpful.
The wifi internet is free and fast in the room and that is a plus.
But the breakfast spread in the coffee shop needs a serious upgrade. The egg counter person(whom I have seen before) is a very hard worker but speaks no English and at times appears rude to the guests which he is not. Probably he is overworked and does not know how to react to the overwhelming and various kinds of orders.
Frontier restaurant has better ambiance but choice of food was limited.

Restaurant Audh where I had my lunch during my stay was excellent. Food was really delicious.

I was little apprehensive when I booked Asok again as it was a 'government hotel'.
Probably I was not much disappointed as I have not expected anything.
Honestly it was very convenient and a pleasant experience staying this time at Ashok.
The hotel has an ambiance of sixties of last century with marbled staircase with brass finished railings. The decor, though antiquated are impressive.

If you have a conference in this hotel and you want to avoid the Delhi traffic stay here. Else if you are on a leisure trip Delhi has many other better options and some of them are certainly fantastic by any standard.

Room Tip: Any room on the upper floor on the front side
