We chose the Suryaa Hotel on a quick whim trip to Delhi and would have cancelled after first night of staying there had the booking not been paid in full.

The hotel pictures give it more credit than it is due. The lobby is old fashioned and the rooms and bathrooms could benefit from some investment in new cleaning material. Overall impression, old and shabby.

On the plus side, the buffet breakfast or dinner is excellent and the hotel has a gallery of shops that stay open well into 11:00 pm for the pleasure of all non-stop shoppers.

If it's the only choice, go ahead and book there, but if not, you will find better.

We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst travelling in India. The rooms were spacious and clean with good in-room facilities. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we both slept well.
They were very good at replenishing the water bottles.
Breakfast is buffet style, with plenty of choice including fresh fruit. The only down side was there was no water available, you had to buy it.
The bar on the top floor is a great place to have a drink with amazing views across Delhi.
Service was very good and staff were friendly and efficient.
The wi-fi charge is a bit steep, and it is disappointing hotels cannot offer this within the room rate.
You'll need to get a tuc tuc if you want to go to Connaught Place and the main areas of Delhi, but it was only 200 rupees and a ride in a tuc tuc is certainly an experience not to be missed! There were always plenty available outside the hotel.
There is a great little shopping area close to the hotel - as you come out of the front of the hotel, go left and then left again - it's only a 10 minute walk, and there is a good supermarket there as well as shops, a great pub called Pebble Street that has a good choice of beers and serves food, and plenty of places to eat - the best place we found was a restaurant called Moksha - food was lovely and excellent service.
Would certainly stay here again if visiting Delhi.

I stayed here four nights while in Delhi. It is a good hotel by any measure. I'm sure it was a grand hotel during its heyday. It seemed a bit dated. The staff was friendly and very helpful in all regards. The breakfast buffet was ordinary Indian cuisine...of which I am not a big fan. Nonetheless, I found some of the dishes interesting. My western tastes were satisfied at the omelet station where eggs are prepared to order. The baked goods selection was about what one would expect. I a country where tea is a preferred drink, the coffee was not up to standard. I had a bowl of minestrone one evening and found it 'brothy' as opposed to 'hearty', which is my choice for Italian soups. A single instrumental song played over and over on some sort of recording loop. Unbelievably, the same song played during the following morning's breakfast.
The fitness center was excellent. Everything you could wish for in equipment. The outdoor pool was very nice and well maintained. The waterfall was not working.
The local (near a local market) offered a convenience. I went to a shop and bought a bottle of local wine. But, that is another story altogether.
All in all, a good hotel made for a nice stay in Delhi.
