Chandni chowk or as claimed as the heart of Delhi is an always bustling place. You get down of the metro and the old world welcomes you, it hosts not only the Jama Masjid but also many small and medium size restaurants with authentic Mughlai food and Kareems is undoubtedly the best of the lot. its an unique place which has something for every one and i have never seen such a varied crowd at one single place ever. The place as id is asking you " what you want?" A tour of the Indian last dynasty go and spend some time in Jama Masjid during the dusk and fill in yourself with as much spirituality as you can and when after spending a well amount of time with the history and your self you feel hungry come out and the food street or as the locals say " khau gali" awaits you with variety of kebabs and other dishes strait from the kitchen of the Mughal sultanate. Its pretty obvious that if you are a foddie be it veg or non veg you can not decline the temptation for these mouth watering foods. While you are walking past the shops and restaurant do pay attention to the buildings and you can witness the architectural heritage of the Mughal India. If you happen to visit the place at night you are surely bound to feel that you are slowly going in the grasp of history the quietness of the Jama Masjid and the flavours of the restaurants outside is one of its kind in itself.
Apart from the historical side chandni chowk has shops of almost everything and the rates are also pretty reasonable and yes you can bargain here to your hearts content, be careful about picking up the right product as there is no guarantee for most of the products with that bit of caution rest its happy shopping.

Many people might not like this place as it is toooo crowdy, noisy and dirty as well but this place is the "Heart of Delhi"... You can purchase any type of things in cheap rates (if you know - how to bargain). Things can be of different quality but you will never regret purchasing it..

In Chandni Chowk, we do have "Parantha wali gali" which is quite famous from ages. Must visit - you can never get such paranthas anywhere.

You ask anything and you get in Chandni Chowk of Delhi. Reasonable rate ,but you have to ensure quality. The place is equivalent of DADAR in Mumbai. Most of he goods ,like flee market are available on pavements and abundant hawkers. The crowd is also reminiscent of ever vibrant Dadar streets with small lanes, bylines, and main road full with sellers and walkers, but few vehicles.Ditto goes with landmarks like Lal Qila, Parathewali Gali, Ballimaran ( Mirza Ghalib Lane), New Road, Delhi station etc.etc.

First my tuk tuk driver took me somewhere else (where he gets a 1% commission on my purchases) trying to tell me it was CC then when he did take me to the right place, I was accosted by my first "I just want to help, there is nothing in it for me" shoppng recommendation within 90 seconds. I actually do engage with these guys because I find it amusing (like the time share touts in Thailand). CC was the first time I really came across beggars in Delhi but not as confronting as I had been led to believe. lots of restaurants, lots of brand nameshops, a bit like a mall without the cleanliness or air conditioned comfort. Dog poop everywhere and I did have to look up why I kept seeing splashes of red against the white walls as it looked like I was walking past.one murder scene after another. It's actually beetle nut spit.

Braved the narrow lanes on a rickshaw. The sights and sounds are what you'd expect of India. My driver helped me in getting a guide for a reasonable price near the red fort and he did a great job explaining what was going on in the bazaar. It can be quite overwhelming due to the crowd and safety could be a concern especially if you're travelling alone. So do keep a lookout and ensure that valuables are hidden well. All types of spices, food and handicrafts could be bought but of course, just be aware that the prices charged a likely to be marked up quite substantially...so haggle! Nonetheless, it is an experience not to be missed.
