Reviewed 7 June 2012

Rajpath (hindi: राजपथ; meaning "King's path" or "The Royal Street") is the ceremonial boulevard for the Republic of India. It runs from Rashtrapati Bhavan through Vijay Chowk and India Gate to National Stadium, Delhi. The New Delhi avenue is lined on both sides by lawns with rows of trees and ponds. Considered to be one of the most important roads in India, the annual Republic Day parade takes place here on January 26.

Rajpath is one of the most important roads in the city. It extends from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan(Presidential House). On both sides of Rajpath are the blocks of the Secretariat. The impressive domes with motifs are eye-catching. The avenue is also lined on both sides by lawans with rows of trees.

You feel like you're in Paris-well, not really. This is the way an grand arch should look with a large wide boulevard leading to it and connecting it to another significant site. Lots of people everywhere even though it was Sunday. As my friend was driving around I think we passed the Rajpath a couple of times but it was blocked off/closed. Didn't know why, it just was.
I remember some grass along the Rajpath and many people cutting it but I mostly remember all the trampled earth around the India Gate from way too many people visiting it everyday. If oyu can keep people off the grass in one place then it shouldn't be too hard to do it a couple hundred meters away.

One of Delhi's best views. A true bit of India, influenced by British architects and visionaries. Take the time to discover the history and then add the obligatory tourist snapshot in front of India gate to your scrapbook.
