“Really cool observatory”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

Really nice to see this old observatory. You can enjoy walking around and taking pictures. There were also many photographs on display when we went. Just be aware that the fee to enter for non-Indians is 10x as much as the fee if you are Indian.

“Wonderful piece of history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2014

Good place for kids. Nice lawns to chill out. Local guides will tell u abt the place for a 100 bucks. Most markings are lost due to weather n lack of maintenance. The Jaipur one is operational, they say.

“Jantar Mantar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

Great atmospheric and photogenic place, especially in the Delhi smog. Lots of instruments and you can wander around freely and get up close. Not too busy when we visited. Quiet area away from the Delhi traffic. Plenty of benches to have a rest. Small entrance fee.

“More protesters than tourists”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014

The beautiful scientific and astronomical constructions at Jantar Mantar of Delhi is similar to the one at Jaipur, it was also built by the same Maharaja of Jaipur, but is smaller in size. It is a beautifully maintained monument in the heart of Delhi, but strangely doesn't attract too many tourists.
In the recent past, it has also become the seat of all protests in Delhi. The local police has given permission to hold all protests and public meetings at this site.
