This property was booked by our travel staff. The hotels location is in prime area of Delhi and also one of the cleanliest area. Rooms are large, spacious and clean. Lobby is grand.

Pros:
Good rooms and location - peaceful
Breakfast quality is good
Tight security
courteous staff

Cons:
Central air conditioner - you cannot change room temperature
No nearby market - as this is in diplomatic enclave

Tip: Nearest metro is Racecourse - just 5 minutes away.

Room Tip: All rooms are same, though rooms on the outer periphery has a better view.

One of the old, large, ITDC (government owned) hotels of Delhi in prime locations which is still not sold out to any private hotelier. Expansive, huge lobby. Large and well-appointed rooms with reasonably good bathrooms. Generous supply of complimentary bottled drinking water, tea-coffee ensemble (much more than most 5 star hotels) and even soft drinks. The buffet breakfast was also ample in variety, and staff at the buffet very pleasant and eager to serve. Room service ordered food was great. Given the price that we paid booking through an OTA, it was extremely good value for money.

I was booked in this hotel by conference organisers. This is a well located, large property with spacious rooms and some nice furniture. This is a public sector hotel and service levels are very poor. A difficult check-in process where three staff try to figure out who should do it. When I reach the room I find that the telephone does not work. The housekeeping tells me that the phone will be set right next morning. When I go down to have dinner I find that the restaurant is closed. The reception staff do not now that the restaurant did not open that day, but still keep telling me go to the closed restaurant. The room had a coffee maker, but not milk or sugar. When I ordered one night, the food did not arrive as they were not able to make what I ordered, but forgot to tell me that they are unable to serve. A neighbouring restaurant attached to Hotel Ashok within the same compound saved the day for me. Breakfast is basic, but decent.
If you have the time and patience to deal with those who have no desire or aptitude to serve, please brave it out. Otherwise avoid the place.

Stayed for night on an official visit. What I admire the most about this hotel is their will to succeed. despite a govt owned hotel they are trying to match the hospitality extended by the private operators. The change in attitude is visible. It is altogether different issue that govt has no business to be in the hotel business.

Room Tip: It is a convenient hotel if you have work in chanakyapura. The hotel is spacious.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room was clean and the hotel is built akin to the many other government hotels in the country and has a tremendously old look to it. They do not have a coffee shop where buffet meals are served. Buffer breakfast was very very average in terms of spread and taste. They have different restaurants in the hotel, run by outside managements, where you can eat but bill to the room. Staff is courteous. For the price that they charge I guess it is pretty vfm considering that it is situated in one of the best addresses in the capital.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the elevators or the walk to the room can be really strenuous
