Shangri-La's Eros Hotel
Ranked #31 of 715 Hotels in New Delhi
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 1 June 2012 via mobile

This hotel looks very nice at first sight; large and shiny lobby, a lot of staff, beautiful outlets.

The problems start when you use it. Nothing major I have to say, but it is frustrating to see that everywhere in the hotel you never, never get a 5* service!

Few examples:
Every morning at breakfast I need to ask twice for my coffee (4 days in a row)...I ask the person who seats me, go to the buffet and then ask again to someone else to have it...
Spa: I book a 1h massage, they put me in the cabin in front of the gym and during the massage I have a mix of relaxing music with disco music coming from the gym whose door is wide open! The trainer is there but...
Reception: i need a copy of my passport first page... Just 1 copy! 1 piece of paper! No...they send me to the 1st floor at the business centre just to get 10 rupees!
Concierge: you ask for something? They call the number and give you the phone!! Just do it!
Want more? Internet works "sometimes" and room walls are thin as paper.

One very positive note: the chinese/thai restaurant on 1st floor! Great food and FINALLY a five stars service!! An oasis in the desert!

Stayed at The Shangri-la from 25th to the 27th May 2012. It is an old but well maintained hotel located well in New Delhi. Staff (especially from Front Office) are very courteous and attentive to needs. Meals at Uno was a large spread. I had my breakfast here and found the service very crisp and brisk.

The best thing about this hotel is its AC. With temperatures soaring to 46 degrees outdoors it is quite an achievement by their engineering tram to maintain temperatures to 23 degrees indoors. Just didn't feel like stepping out!

Internet (LAN & WIFI) are complimentary and this is such a blessing. Spa is awesome and gym facilities are very good too. I so wanted to use the pool which looked clean and tempting but for the weather!

Shalini from Guest Relations and Lucky the bread man made an impression with their personalized approach.

Overall a very good stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room on their higher floors as the view gets better.

I stay at the hotel for about 7 nights.
The hotel staff is really good and helpful.
The room is quite old but clean.. except the bath room - I personally think that they actually can do better on the cleaning of the bath room.

Like other 5 stars of hotel, you can expect a good services and facilities.
Everything is there, ready for use, and it is in 5 stars hotel standard.

they annoying (but actually good) thing is that everytime you enter the hotel you will go though security check... I've been experience the same in other hotels, but in this hotel, the X-Ray scanner is not in line with the hotel entry door...
So we have to go to a little left for X-Ray, pick our back from the scanner, and go back to the hotel entry door... not far, but quite annoying if you come and back to the hotel so often.

the food is fantastic! especially the one on 2nd floor (Thay food and some chinesse food - but I can't remember the name).

overall: satisfied!

The hotel is located close to the diplomatic area of Delhi and near to India Gate. I had a view of the monument from my bedroom window. The hotel is clean and the service efficient if a little detached. Charges for airport pickup and drop off are quite high but this is justified because of the 35/40 minute drive to and from the airport.

Given its position the grounds of the hotel are quite small but the swimming pool and lawned area are pleasant enough and you can sit outside with a drink in the evening (I went in May) although the cost of drinks at the bar is high.

The Asian restaurant is worth a visit on the 1st floor.

Good hotel but be careful when booking. It appeared to me when booking on Expedia that the rate included airport transfer, laundry services etc. with the Horizon Club Room.
If you are used to staying in the Shangri-Las in S E Asia, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. then you may be disappointed.
The restaurants in this hotel are not great, only two - one cafe and one Asian - both of which were very average. Drinks etc. very expensive like other similar properties in India.
On the plus side the staff were very good, particularly those in the Club Lounge.

The location perfect, the reception great ( just that they asked for my cc even thought it was company provided accomodation sully paid), the break fast amazing..

The hotel charges are exorbitant when i came to know of it... though my company pays for it.. its not a healthy sign to pay that high figures. The courteousness expressed was great, the service was on call.. so am impressed, the room had a perfect view of the india gate which again impressed me.. the break fast spread was amazing.. i would as per a international travellers delight... stayed in many of shangrilas hotels but in india i think it was better than expected. The rooms are well done up. how ever i have had issued with their shower facilities it keeps dripping even after the knobs are shut.. its irritating esp when you want to get into the tub and sink your days stress off.... :) the interner for change is amongst the best i have experienced so far.. kudos to the management...

Room Tip: break fast is amazing.... the local transportation is a something to be very smart with.. dont take...
