I stay regularly in Delhi and Gurgaon - and this hotel was a last minute choice as I knew someone else staying here. I usually stay at Oberoi, Trident or Leela - and there is a big gap between this hotel and those. The food at the Oriental restaurant was very disappointing - to see where it falls short visit the 361 restaurant at the Oberoi Gurgaon - they have excellent Chinese food that does not compromise.
This hotel seems old and tired - it is in a great location - so if it could get up to par with other hotels in Delhi I would most certainly consider staying here again - but until then there is much better available.

It is really a shame that after reaching the top responsible of the hotel, such as management, this person could not help but being bureaucratic and impolite with its guests. I have stayed for more than 4 days in this hotel and booked a double room to be shared with a colleague for the last day, because of a late-hours flight. During the check-in, we were both offered a complimentary late check out in two separate single rooms for this last day. But unexpectedly, on such a date, at 5.30 pm, the manager in person claimed that such an offer had never existed, it was a simple miscommunication error and that my colleague and I had a 'deadline' of 45 minutes to pack and switch to one double room, as there were serious system problems if we did not proceed immediately. After going through such a stressful situation and rushing to pack as soon as possible, it was very disappointing to have the same manager in duty making pressure on us and calling my room every 5 minutes to see if packing was ready... as if there was a new guest waiting to enter into the room. Being nice, understanding and sympathetic sometimes is not too difficult to achieve, unless you do not have the customers' well being in your very first priority! After staying in other hotels in Delhi it is clear that training and supervision is much of a need in the arrogant service management of this hotel. "Behind every smile the warmest of welcomes" appears in the hotel's website. The little understanding and unprofessional attitude of the manager was enough to ruin all the good impressions and warm welcome. Hard, very hard to come back.

Room Tip: Check if your assigned room is a non-smoking one before unpacking - staff seem not to believe in you...

A wonderful place to rest after long flights from Europe and North America. It really is a 5 star ++ luxury resort. Stay here to be pampered by the friendly, impeccable staff. The restaurant food was amazing with a wide variety of fabulous Indian and Western delicacies.

This hotel is no where near a 5 star property. If you are there for business and need a comfortable room to sleep in, its perfect. The breakfast was very average, service was great like it is everywhere in India, hotel ambience is average, and its just not worth the price! There are much better properties in Delhi than this! Its definitely not to a Shangrila standard.

This hotel is good in most of the aspects, cleanliness, neat, good rooms, nice gym and steam areas, pool and open jacuzzi is also nice but pool was kept closed on Sunday due to chlorine problem (pool closed on Sunday is unacceptable as that the only day business travelers get time to enjoy it.
Room service is not good, food always comes 40 mins after ordering (which according to me is late for room service) in room and also other stuff u ask for come very late in room, twice they forgot to send me 1 of the items which i had ordered in room service. Also once they forgot to make my room and when i came back from my work the room was not done even when i had called and told them to make my room. I guess carelessness or understaffed (either 1 of the two) can be the reason for such issues.

Thai food is mind blowing and very delicious, so do checkout the first floor multi cuisine restaurant.

Overall i would rate it good.

I spent 10 nights here visiting from the U.S. and was in Delhi to do wedding shopping. The Shangri-la was an oasis from the everyday battle that is Delhi. The hotel is so centrally located that you can get to Karol Bagh, Noida, Gurguaon, GK-1, South Ex, Defense Colony, Hauz Khas Village etc. all within a 20 minute drive. The hotel is beautiful with outstanding service and beautiful rooms (the Executive suite is massive and great for having small gatherings while the regular superior rooms are spacious and still very luxurious). There is someone available on staff to help with nearly anything. Breakfast at Cafe Uno every morning was a treat and there is an unlimited menu/buffet of options from Indian to Asian to Western cuisine, juices, breads etc. and almost anything you can think of. The staff during breakfast is very helpful and makes sure that you have whatever you need or want as quickly as possible. The staff in general at the Shangri-la is highly trained and everyone seems excited, passionate to be working there which makes for a very pleasant stay. Room service is available 24x7 and there is a beautiful outdoor garden/patio to sit and enjoy tea or drinks pretty much all day. The Asian restaurant on the first floor (19 Oriental Avenue) serves an enormous menu of Asian cuisine (Japanese, Thai and Chinese) at reasonable prices and relatively large portions. We were able to get noodles, soup and 2 glasses of wine which was filling and simple for about 2,500 rupees after taxes etc. (which isn't bad for a hotel meal). In general, drinks are expensive here since they (and any other hotel or restaurant) adds a lot of service charges and taxes (30%+). So a glass of wine that is around 800 rupees could go up to 1,100 or so ($20). If you are able to get Horizon Club access through your room, it is worth stopping by the happy hour during the 6-8pm time in order to get complimentary drinks as well as appetizers. The staff is very helpful up there (19th floor) but very strict in terms of how many people they will allow from your party to get complimentary drinks (if your room is only a single occupancy room you will only be able to get drinks/buffet for 1 person).

Also, the spa is incredible here. Even if you don't use any of their spa treatments like massages etc. (which are very affordable - 2,000 rupees for a 30 minute massage), you have access to their gym and weight room, and locker rooms which have a wonderful little steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and lots of robes, towels, showers etc. which make it very comfortable. Also there is access to the outdoor swimming pool, kids pool and jacuzzi.

Overall my experience here was unbelievable and made my stay in Delhi extremely enjoyable, less stressful and very memorable. I will absolutely stay here the next time I come and strongly recommend anyone planning to stay in a hotel in Delhi to stay at this one. I even forced my parents and sister and brother in-law to get rooms here for a night and everyone felt so peaceful and happy like a vacation within a vacation at this hotel. A special shout out to Lucky for taking care of us every morning at breakfast for 10 days!

I simply cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It represents real value in terms of cost, offering a superior experience at very reasonable rates. We had a room on the 17th floor with sweeping views of the city, a king bed with crisp clean linens and lots of fresh towels. The spa facility is superb, I had two treatments and they were both world class. The pool is perfect for swimmers, I swam 50 laps every morning and the pool, which is not overheated, was ideal for this. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, offering a wide variety of western and indian options. More than anything the staff we incredible. I hurt my back and they immediately sent an ice pack, when we refilled it and it leaked (our fault) the sent a housekeeper in the middle of the night to totally remake the bed. The concierge desk, always a sign of a good hotel, was helpful and got us a reservation at some very exclusive restaurants, including Le Cirque, the same day. I will use this hotel as my future base in Delhi. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: I would recommend the higher floors if available as the views are incredible.
