“Good hotel for short stay”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

The hotel is walking distance from the New Delhi railway station. It is good deal for short stay. The rooms are good but the food quality is not up to the mark. The staff are not very cooperative. They made me wait for an hour to check in.

Dear Guest, thank you for the review. We are glad you had a great stay at Grand Godwin New Delhi.
Dear Guest the check in and check out time is 12 :00 clock so some time it takes a while to clean the room , so apologize that you waited for some time.

When I arrived I was told the hotel was being renovated and that I would be transferred to another wing. The 4 of us including my father in law aged 65 was taken down the road to a filthy hotel which bore a different name. I immediately began to voice my dissatisfaction and demanded to be taken back to the hotel that I had booked and paid for. The management was completely ridiculous not even offering an apology. On further investigation I found that they often do this to tourist and then hire out the already booked room to a walk in off the street at a higher price. the hotel itself was satisfactory but I am completely disgusted that after travelling a great distance to be treated in such a manner. especially my aged father in law. best advice I can give book hotel city star in Delhi.

Room Tip: pick another hotel

Overall, I got the impression we got the "early check in - you're desperate and will take it" room. To begin with the booking process, I had booked a deluxe room. The confirmation came back for a standard room so when i inquired, they said quote: "our Standard and Deluxe room category is same". Since our flight got in at roughly 4.00am I asked about early check in before our trip, they said it would depend on availability and the cost would be Rs 1000. When we got there early check in cost Rs 2000, I asked why and they said that's because Rs1000 apply till 4.00am and we checked in at 5.00am when the rate of 2000 applied!! something they could've said when I asked while booking. We were shown to a room that by first looks appeared great. While getting settled, the pillowcases where all wrinkled, as if already slept in multiple times. The sheets had stains (but that is something we encountered throughout India, seems nobody throws away sheets for that, they simply wash and use them again...). The floor was so dusty we could trace our footsteps, bedside tables dusty as well. Our room was just behind the reception, and from one side was the street where our window faced (non stop horns & people going past) and the room next to ours was used by staff to relax, chat etc. My earplugs earned me barely an hour of sleep. It was just for one night (though ended up paying for almost two..) so when a hotel staff came to ask whether our room was clean a)I thought he was joking and b)I had no time and absolutely no energy to take him by the hand and show him everything that needed to be cleaned. I do appreciate though the hotel effort to run such "customer satisfaction" checks. On the plus side, our airport pick up was excellent, the staff was polite (they helped us a lot in getting an Indian sim card and with tuk tuks etc), the room had touch screen buttons to control lights and "make my room" - "don't disturb" etc and breakfast was nice (the roof top rather depressing due to poor view though). The location is perfect with restaurants and the cutest cafe cross the street, train station close by, so with a room on a high floor (and a liner sleeping bag) you should be ok.

Room Tip: Don't chose room on the ground floor, the noise of horns and people won't let you sleep a wi...

Its decent hotel located right in the centre of the city. Rooms are neat and clean. Staff is cooperative. Service is very fast. Roof-top restaurant is beautiful. Breakfast is decent and food is tasty.

The best part is value for money as with the location, services and room quality - price is too good. New Delhi Railway station is next door. Metro station is also close. Connectivity to airport is too good as Airport metro is also close.

In all hotel is good value for money.

Hi,Hotel Grand Godwin is excellent in room quality and staff is very generous.Breakfast is very good and filling, rooms extremely comfortable with superb quality of beds.Rooms and bathroom well lit with modern amenities.I'm sure u wont get this kind of services at even Rs5000 per day in delhi.even they are giving one way airport transfer great! when u arrive delhi by train and need to board a flight next day it helps a lot and save ur money.Remember most of hotel give just pickup from airport not one way transfer.BUT there are two low point-1.LOCATION-pahargang &2-COSTLY TRAVEL DESK-i mean who charge Rs 1600/- for 8hrs/80km in delhi for a car like indigo in winter(non A/C)-Remember i know delhi very well as i stayed there for 12 yrs for my education.

Room Tip: Go for executive room with breakfast and one way transfer plan,For peace do not choose road view

Nice hotel, good location close to Delhi train station. Plenty of hot water and the bed was very comfy. Only minus was that there was no window in our room and it smelled a little bit. Breakfast buffet just okay. Would stay here again but request room with window.
