Its the kind of hotel we were looking for... Entire room floor has been covered with red carpet so as to bear the cold while walking without shoes/slippers... Additional pillow has been given when requested.. Food was ok... Normal taste... Balcony view is very nice... All the regional channels are viewable in tv... Cost was vey moderate, less than avg price quoted in trip advisor... Go for this hotel..

So glad to have stayed here, really friendly staff, the room was clean, comfortable and the bed was great! Good service, maybe too much the porters call to your room way too often but better than not at all. As a backpacker, it was perfect for this city.

This hotel was the first place we stayed in India. It is OK. A little run down but the staff are lively and helpful. We booked a driver for 10 days with the travel agent 'adventure starts here' and we got a good deal but be firm with what you want and we advise you to book your own hotels as the ones they use are not so great. Also the laundry service is not so good, clothes smelled worse post wash than pre and were damp and was very expensive.

I booked Lal's Haveli after I read some good reviews in the internet, but have to say, that I was rather disappointed. The room was run down and smelled of fuel. Compared to other hotels I stayed in in India this one was relatively pricey, and in the end I payed twice for the breakfast (booked room with breakfast via HRS, but they refused to accept this although it was marked on the voucher). The roof terrace is admittably nice, like an escape from busy Delhi, the food was acceptable, too. Got pestured at the room door for coffee, travel agent, etc. maybe 6-7 times per stay (which was just a day). Just check, there are better and cheaper hotels out there......

My girlfriend and I stayed here in two "shifts" for a total of 7 days. To be honest, the area is fairly seedy, and the hotel front might be somewhat difficult to find, but the hotel itself is very nice, and punches above its weight in terms of value.

The staff, as everyone keeps mentioning, are extraordinarily friendly. Everyone is always smiling and asking after you to make sure you're well taken care of.
When I had originally booked, I accidentally chose a suite for 3-4 people, rather than 2, and as soon as the staff discovered my error, they (totally unprompted!) offered us a smaller, couple's room, and charged us the lesser price!
The room service was speedy, and not pricy at all, and the hotel has a rooftop restaurant with a nice view. The restaurant itself was delicious - much better, actually, than most of the other restaurants we visited on our trip. The cheese omelet and puri bhaji were delicious, and their toast actually changed the way I slice bread. (I'll admit that I'm probably a bit of an outlier in this regard.)
The rooms themselves were about average size, but the beds were amazing - better than my home mattress, even. They were very soft - which was right up our alley, but if you prefer firm mattresses, they might not be the best fit. The bathrooms were also very clean, and the hotel always had hot water. I didn't give a five-star rating because the first room we were in had some small gaps between the wall and the windowframe where cold air blew through. The wind was easily blocked by moving a piece of luggage over the hole, but there you go.
In the area there are a lot of other hotels and travel places, but most of them are pretty cutthroat and we got ripped off by one. Lal's provides an airport pickup service which is efficient and fairly priced (more expensive than a pliant rickshaw, but on par with any cab). We didn't try Lal's travel service, which was a big regret of ours.
Some tips: Paharganj seemed a bit out of the way to us until we discovered the Ramakrishna Ashram Marg metro station, just down the road - about 20-30 rupees on a bicycle rickshaw. Be advised you should memorize the route because one of the rickshaw drivers we hailed got "lost" and charged us 100.
Directly across the street from Lal's is another excellent restaurant and Bengali sweets shop. They have a stand outside which makes fresh jalebi's, which are by far my favorite Indian sweet.

I live in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, and stay at Lal's whenever I visit Delhi. The staff are great - friendly, courteous and welcoming - from the management to the porters. The rooms have been redecorated recently and are stylish and comfortable. The area isn't great - DB Gupta Road in Paharganj is very busy and the pollution can be bad. But the hotel is tucked down a small sidestreet and I have never had any problems with noise there. The Bikaner restaurant opposite is great for safe, tasty food.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for superdeluxe - not much more expensive and the rooms are bigger.

Hi guys, once again I stayed at Lal's Haveli and once again it surprised me: newly furnished rooms for a fraction more of the price that is still valid for the standard rooms.
The hotel is near to the Metro station, easily accessible to all sightseeing spots in Delhi and has that old-fashioned family atmosphere with excellent value care and foresight for your needs. Amit Wason, his loyal team and his family look after the place for generations now.
It's the best place in Pahar Ganj, clean, and nothing is too complicated for them.
The best food by the best cook in the area is on the roof, he is an old-timer in this establishment as well.
Come here, enjoy your time in Delhi, enjoy the free wifi, the fun with the team and the professional attitude by each member of the staff, without exception.
