The hotel was clean, the staff very friendly and helpful (as most of the places in India). It is close to the metro station, but you need more than 40 minutes on metro to get to the centre.
The rooftop restaurant had a very nice atmosphere and delicious food, but found it greatly overpriced - I thought I was paying more than London prices!!
In general, nice hotel if you just want to spend a night in Delhi before/after your flight, but if you want to spend some time in Delhi, look for something more central.

Our criteria for a hotel in New Delhi was that it had to (1)be clean clean clean, (2) provide 24 hour food service to accommodate crazy arrivals and departures, (3) have reasonable access to the airport (30-40 minutes) because we would use the hotel as a "base" for various mini-travels throughout northern India, (4) didn't want to pay for amenities that we would never use (such as pool or bar or meeting area). Shanti Home met and exceeded all that criteria AND provided concierge service for drivers - (wonderful safe and reliable drivers vital in Delhi); they even walked us to the Metro the first time and showed us how to use it and get a rebate on our day passes; and they ALWAYS kept track of our schedule and made sure we met our departure schedules. Whether it was Puja or Ravi as managers the staff worked excellent together. Chef Arun always had personal suggestions for the best meals even with some of us having food sensitivities. Mahal and Marpal worked the food service like we were guests in their home. I heard some travelers say they didn't know whether they could trust good reviews on TA but we don't have a negative thing to say about Shanti Home. We wish the Shanti Home team ran some of the hotels in the US. And one final plus - staff never had a hand out for tips but there was a large tip jar so all the staff shared the gratuities. With rising prices in India everywhere we went the hands were out (except Shanti Home) AND Shanti Home staff earned their tips and worked as a team while doing so.

My wife and I spent three nights at the Shanti Home and this was definitely among the most memorable hotel stay we have ever had. The hotel promptly picked us up at the airport when we flew in, upgraded our room for free, and helped us with anything and everything we needed during our stay (i.e. personally walking us to the subway station nearby and giving us a local cell phone and sim card to use free of charge during our stay). The breakfast (included in the room price) is truly outstanding. In addition to eggs served any way you like, they offer you small Indian breakfast specialties, fruit, fresh juices, and will pretty much continue to offer you food until you're stuffed. Aside from breakfast, we had dinner at the restaurant all three nights and were blown away by the excellent Indian cuisine, particularly the tandor. Both the food and the service are hard to beat. The hotel itself has a lot of character and is very tastefully designed. The only disatvantage is that it's not centrally located and is a bit far from downtown Delhi, but the experience of staying here is well worth commuting to downtown.

I stayed at Shanti Home for 3 days at the beginning and end of my stay in India. I was warmly greeted upon arrival although at an odd hour. Very beautiful accommodations. I was blessed with a wonderful cooking lesson with the current staff. I couldn't have had a better experience. The staff was very pleasing and gracious. The rooms were clean and comfortable

I stayed at Shanti Home for a total of 4 nights, before and after my two-week tour of India with a friend. We had a wonderful stay. Our first room was unexpectedly spacious, the second room was a little smaller but adequate. I had an Ayurvedic massage complete with a steam sauna which was wonderful and reasonably priced. What surprised me was the restaurant. I had one of the tastiest tandori at their rooftop restaurant. I fell in love with their green papaya pickle which served complimentary before dinner as snack. Ravi, the night manager was kind enough, he promised to send me the recipe. Every staff member there was friendly and efficient; they made you feel at home.

Although it is a bit far from the center of the city and where most things seem to be happening, I would absolutely recommend Shanti Home to anyone (taxis in Delhi are basically free so distance shouldn't matter much). My girlfriend and I stayed in the Bollywood room which was decorated with movie equipment and charming. We also had a massage, which was the best (out of 3 different massages) on our trip. We had dinner (and breakfast every morning) on the roof which was amazing (actually the best dinner we had on our entire trip). The service is where this hotel REALLY excels. We both arrived and departed at fairly inconvenient times but the hotel was extremely welcoming. They picked us up at the airport, arranged all of our sightseeing for the entire trip and all of our drivers. Everyone was wonderful, they helped us adjust our plans when we had a flight issue and had to stay longer. This hotel is much better (and an incredible value) compared to all the Western or other luxury hotels in the city. Don't waste your time with them, stay at Shanti Home!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bollywood room which was excellent!
