This is precisely the kind of place I like to stay (and unfortunately there are not enough of them around). Spotlessly clean rooms, adorned with furniture elegant local designs. The rooms are well sized for Delhi and contain a safe, a spotless bathroom and a balcony (I believe that some rooms even have extra facilities).

Although it is not a business hotel, and feels like a graceful boutique hotel without any of the corporate coldness, it does most of the things that large hotels try to do better than they do. A welcome drink on arrival with a lay of flowers, a welcome letter on the bed, a good restaurant with an excellent tandoori oven and complimentary biscuits and water in the room.

The place has a wonderful feel. It is cultural without being kitsch. It is spotlessly clean (seriously, it is probably the cleanest place I have been to in all of India) without being cold or harsh.

The hotel has a free laptop and free wi-fi. It also has an entertainment section, a library and a massage area. The only observation I would make is that my room did not have a TV within them (they may be in the luxury rooms). Although this is not an issue, as there is a TV room in the building, and it is obviously done to preserve the grace of the room, it seemed a little strange. Considering the clear expense spent to fit the place out, and the excellent fixtures and fittings in the rooms, it seems that TVs would be a very limited expense. However, I would not let this deter anyone from staying here.

It is not located near many of Delhi's traditional tourist locations. However, it is located closer to the airports than a number of places that people often stay in Delhi. It would be ideal for a transit overnight. Also, the staff are very honest and will arrange a car for a proper price. Many hotels I have tried to book cars in will charge twice to three times as much as it would cost in a travel agent. However, this hotel (again a first in India) offered to arrange transport at a fair price.

Which leads me to the final observation about this hotel; the staff and the people running the hotel. They seem very friendly, welcoming, very competent and happy with their work. It was a very warm feeling being around them and they were professional enough to allow their guests space and privacy as would be expected in a hotel of this caliber.

This is the kind of hotel, one that I have too rarely found around the world, that I could think of setting myself up in residence in, for an extended sabbatical. In this price range, I cannot think of a better hotel in Delhi. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in New Delhi.

Shanti Home is well-located in the west part of New Delhi. The hotel itself is very boutique, but I don't think the great ratings on Trip Advisor are necessarily warranted. The service is absolutely incredible, the people are fantastic. No complaints there. Given that India is essentially a 3rd world country, this hotel is very nice in contrast. But here are my complaints: We had a deluxe room and there was no TV (not a big issue), but we had to go to a community room to watch TV. More importantly, the hot shower was inconsistent if not non-existent. You couldn't shower for more than 5 minutes without it turning stone cold freezing. Finally, they have a hotel restaurant, but it's located on the roof. There are no walls on the roof, only curtains they'd hang to block the cold air and wind. If you're there in Dec/Jan like we were, you're absolutely freezing at breakfast and dinner because the space heaters couldn't offset the cold. It made eating a miserable experience. Finally, the rooms don't have central air or heating. They had a machine you plug in the wall that provides heat to the room. It was either steaming hot or freezing cold in the room. For $150 /night, I'd rather pay an extra $20 /night and skip the 'personality' of a boutique hotel and stay at the Radisson like we did at the beginning of our trip in India. You'd have all the amenities of a first class hotel plus a pool and hot tub, neither of which Shanti Home had. For $150 night, it's probably not worth it.

I've stayed in several hotels in Delhi in the past, including The Imperial and Taj Mahal and although these might be grander than the Shanti Home, they can't beat it in terms of service and staff (and cost at least four times more per night).

I was travelling alone and spent 4 nights here before flying down to Goa, then another 3 nights on my return so stayed in two different rooms - Kashmir and Benares. Both were lovely (although I preferred Benares) - beautifully decorated, with fantastic furnishings and fabrics plus free wifi and fierce air-con. What more could you want? All the rooms are individually decorated and themed and the common areas are also beautifully done. As others have said, the location isn't central but the metro is just around the corner, easy to use and 25 minutes into Connaught Place. The rooftop restaurant has great food (some of the best I've eaten in India) and the staff are all, without exception, wonderful.

One of the many examples of thoughtfulness deserves a mention: as any lone traveller knows, a book is your constant companion and the rooftop restaurant is (as you'd expect) lit in a lovely atmospheric way that suits it but doesn't help with your reading. The team at Shanti Home had noticed my bumbling around trying to find a table with an iota more light than others and, while I was in Goa, bought a light that you can clip to a book ("so you can sit ANYWHERE"). I was completely bowled over.

This hotel made a single woman traveller feel safe, secure and pampered in the midst of mad Delhi and I will definitely stay here again. Thanks to Sanjana, Rajat and Pooja plus all the other remarkable staff.

This hotel is a treat not to be missed. Fantastic welcome, lovely staff, big quiet rooms & excellent management. Cleanliness is definitely next to godliness at this hotel. The hotel is close to the metro and also has very good drivers. The one minor disadvantage is that there is no attractive local shopping or restaurant area - but New Delhi doesn't seem to be that sort of city so that might the same for all decent hotels. Would definitely stay again.

Stylish and quietly efficient, Shanti Home combines a traditional feel to the decor with all modern conveniences. It is well located for the airport, although some distance from the centre, and on a gated street tends to be relatively quiet at night. Although the south Delhi skyline hasn't much to offer, the rooftop restaurant has a pleasant ambiance, and the food is good. If you don't need 4-star frills, this little place is an ideal and welcoming introduction to Indian hospitality.

Shanti Home is a magnificent hotel in Delhi and I have never experienced such incredible service before.

The hotel arranged the pick up from International airport in the late night. I travel my own but I feel immediately confidence in the Hotel.

The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming which is really exceptional in Delhi. The owner gave me the practival advices for my safe and secure travel in India. Thank you Mr.Rajat.

The rooms are well decorated and I like the name of my room "BOLLYWOOD"

The hotel helped me to book my train ticket in advance on my request email.

I could not recommend this hotel enough, I am completely happy and satisfied with Shanit Home.

We stayed in the hotel in the beginning and at the end of our stay in india. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, the rooms are very nice, the whole hotel is in really good shape, very clean and nicely decorated, the food on the roof terrace is excellent - what more can i say...! The service mentality and helpfullness is extraordinary. It is a bit far away from the centre, but can be reached easily by metro which is close by. Would definitely come again and will recommend to friends anytime!
