Very attentive staff only too willing to help. Food was delicious - definitely try the Indian special each morning at breakfast. The bedrooms are spacious and there was always hot water. The communal lounges are very pleasantly decorated and the laptop facility made life easy. Dinner was as good as the reviews suggest although I was very lazy and didn't try anywhere else given the hotel's location.

The hotel arranged trips around Delhi and to Agra for me. The Delhi trip was great - only not long enough (my fault). The drive to Agra was both long (4 hours there and 5 back) and stressful (or exhilarating if you enjoy rally driving!) as a result of the lawless roads. The Taj Mahal and Fort Agra were definitely worth seeing but I wouldn't recommend fitting it in in one day due to the travel time involved and the fact I missed the Taj at either sunset or sunrise.

I would highly recommend Shanti Home - it's a far cry from the souless chain hotels with exceptionally well mannered and attentive staff. I felt confident enough to try anything on the menu with great success. Long may the hotel maintain its standards.

The service at Shanti Home is exceptional. I have never experienced this type of service anywhere else. We stayed during the "volcano situation" and had to make numerous trips to the airport to get our tickets changed. Shanti Home arranged a car and driver on a moment's notice and made calls to the airline. After a long, tiring, edgy day going to Agra and back we were met at 11:30pm by a waiter asking if he could get us anything to eat or drink.
The rooms are very clean with a/c.
I would stay at this hotel in a heart beat even though Delhi in 44 degree C. heat is not my favourite destination.

We spent a month travelling around Rajasthan and Kerala in 2009 and stayed the last night of our trip in Shanti Home. It made our trip! The family who run it were very welcoming and our room was not only stylish, but also very quiet and comfortable – an oasis of peace and tranquility in the madness that is Delhi. The highlight was dinner on their gorgeous roof terrace, where they have a tandoori oven. The food was fantastic! We were even allowed a late check out the next day, as our plane wasn’t leaving until late in the evening, which gave us the opportunity to have a full body massage by their masseurs and dinner on the roof terrace again before heading off for our long-haul flight back to France. If in Delhi, don’t stay anywhere else!

Delhi can be a tough city, especially with a young family.

Shanti home therefore prevails on two fronts: the location is slightly set-away from the city, just far enough away from the crowds, but a mere convenient hop on the Metro (and 20ish minutes to get into town), and the hotel is an exquisite mix of service, cleanliness and style.

Make no mistake, the architect of this hotel clearly understands the demands of the traveller, and has made this hotel chilled, comfortable and convenient (read: free wi-fi!). And had a great roof top restaurant to boot.

Stay here if you can, you won't regret.

Shanti Home hast tastefully furnished rooms that still capture the spirit of India. Staff is very helpfull and try to accomodate all their guests' needs. During our stay, the nights were very cold, so upon our arrival staff had placed heaters and extra blankets in our rooms. The little rooftop restaurant offers delicious food, it would be a waste not to try it.
Shanti Home is a wonderful oasis to come back to, after visiting Delhi during the day. The only (very tiny) downside is, that it is rather expensive, but it's worth the money.

We stayed at Shanti Home for a couple of days - that's enough - then we decided to book a flight to Jaipur. Their website is fantastic; I'd love to know the guy who mastered this magical reality - but when you arrive in the hotel you truly feel cheated. It's barely a half a star pension - wouldn't qualify for hotel in the first world. The staff are absolutely fantastic, can't describe their effort, but the premises are really very, very poor yet very clean. The top verandah and views are wonderful and the food spectacular. It's the perfect scum though - the website does not correspond to reality. I saw a Triadvisor award of the year 2009 in their living room, #1 in all of Delhi!! I am still wondring who were the voters... Well, good luck, this is not what you expect from the #1. Your choice.
