“Charming, friendly B&B”

The property itself is very nice. It's clean, and in a safe, very quiet neighborhood that isn't too far from Humayun's tomb and the metro. Compared to where most hotels in the city are located, the neighborhood is a welcome respite from the chaos.

It's Ajay though that really makes this place special. He goes the extra mile for guests in every way, and the breakfast is fantastic.

This was my favorite hotel stay in India, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Delhi.

Great place to stay. It's a short tuk-tuk ride to the metro - if it's your first stop in India and you find hailing your first tuk-tuk (and making sure you're charged a fair price) a little daunting, don't worry, Ajay or one of the staff will help. It was a perfect place to start our trip - a bit away from the fray, just enough but not too far; and Ajay is incredibly friendly and helpful, he'll gladly answer any questions about how to get around, good places to eat etc; and the staff is very nice.

I stayed at a lot of lovely hotels in India but without a doubt this was the most enjoyable. I was an older woman and due to a last minute change was travelling alone. I had stayed in south delhi many years ago and knew it was a good location - a short tuk tuk ride away from the madness of the center. It is a small guesthouse so easy to meet and talk to other residents, many of whom were also solo travellers. This was no small part of the enjoyment. It's Ajay himself however who makes the place special. He is both helpful and laid back at the same time, with a good sense of humor, and helps with anything and everything - how to make international calls, get a sim card (complicated in India), where to shop, arranging drivers, providing food when you arrive very late. I stupidly missed my train to Agra (from which I had a later connection to Jaipur) and then even more stupidly got involved with some ticket touts (which he had explicitly warned against). One phone call to Ajay resolved everything and within a short time was on my way to Agra. What was particularly welcome was his attitude that it was no big deal. He says he wants to make it your home away from home. That's exactly how I felt when I returned for a night before my return flight home. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Ajay makes Eleven a respite from the hustle and bustle of Delhi, located on a less-traveled street in an excellent location.  There are several rooms, each well kept, comfortable and unique in their furnishings.  We toured the classic golden triangle starting in Delhi, venturing through Agra and Jaipur to return to Delhi.  We stayed with Ajay both times we were in Delhi and felt very warm and comfortable in returning to such a pleasant place to stay.  Beyond the amenities being good, Ajay is an excellent host who will see to your every need (even pink shoes - inside joke for Ajay!).  On our return journey, we arrived to the house quite late due to horrible traffic from fog-white out conditions and Ajay had sandwiches, fruit and beer for us upon our arrival as we hadn't found something to eat.  He has great ideas of what to see in and around Delhi, for example we were there over New Year's Eve and his hand written directions to excellent local (non-tourist) neighborhood restaurants made for a perfect start to 2014.  He met us for breakfast each morning which made for an opportunity to get his perspective on our plans as well as great conversation regarding India itself - and the wider world!

Room Tip: Stayed in 4 different rooms (family split between two and stayed there on two visits). All rooms we...

I cannot rate this place highly enough, and it is all down to the owner who really looks after you and makes you feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble, he is knowledgeable about Delhi and can recommend great places to see/eat etc. He was the kindest man we'd met in Delhi and you instantly felt you could trust him.

The mobile phone is a great touch and really useful if you end up with a deceitful taxi driver who tries to tell you "madam I cannot take you there because a) it is closed, b) it is a national holiday, c) my brothers place is nicer, d) my wife and children are all starving etc etc etc" - being able to call Ajay and check with him, plus asking Ajay to translate for us, was a godsend and the taxi driver soon realised he couldn't get away with being so disrespectful.

We felt very safe here (2 female British travellers) - like we were staying in a friends house! Lovely large rooms, great service. Thank you for the beers, and cheers! I hope to come back and see you again.

The only bad thing is I think it is a tad expensive if you are a 'backpacker' but as a single female it is definitely worth paying out for peace of mind and a friendly face, particularly if you are new to Delhi and/India.

I was only able to stay for one night at the Eleven Guest House, but look forward to returning again. The guest house is located in a beautiful old home in a quiet residential area (ask for directions to the Turtle Cafe, a 10 min walk away - best salad I've had in years), and is also within a short taxi ride from Lodi Gardens. The owner/manager Ajay will provide you excellent directions on how to get to the guest house at the best possible rate/price from the airport, and did everything possible to make sure my stay was comfortable - including leaving a couple of cold beers in the fridge for me at night! Highly recommended for any traveler passing through Delhi.

Ajay was a warm and welcoming host. He met us at breakfast each morning, a nice gesture. Enjoyed having his cell phone to carry with us. The home feels as if you are a neighbor instead of tourist. He met with our driver and offered suggestions for our trip based on what we wanted to see and knowing how tired we were on our first day. Wished we had talked with him first so we would have known our driver fees for 2 1/2 days were more than we should have been charged. Also enjoyed his staff, sweet women, and a friendly cook who will also find a hair dryer for you.
