We were in Delhi in recently December 2009 and stayed at "eleven" at Nizamuddin.Right from making the reservation to our checkout, we had a wonderful experience. We booked our stay from Sydney and found our host Ajay Anandd to be extremely informative, professional, helpful and friendly on email and in person. "Eleven" is situated in a quite and leafy, residential neighborhood, far from the "madding crowd". The premises are pleasing and well-kept. The breakfasts were really good and the staff were prompt in cleaning our room and bathroom everyday. We had opted for an airport pickup and Ajay also arranged taxis for us when we needed them. Very importantly, our kids who have not lived in India, had no problems with anything and were very comfortable. Overall, it was a great experience and I would repeat it again when I need to stay at Delhi next.

This place is perfect on its own, but if you are looking for something more personal, and typical of a homestay (where you interact with the families and feel like you are actually living in a local's home), you will be dissapointed.

11 Delhi is a hotel built in a home. The room and bathroom are reallly clean, huge TV screen, AC was good, bed's very comfortable. Breakfast is sumptous in a small cosy kitchen, and i like the fact that internet is free. It is located is a very safe, upper-class colony, and it is very near the Humayun Tomb.

Ajay the owner was helpful, he ensures that you find your way to the homestay, but too bad, we only saw a glimpse of him at breakfast. The feel you get here is neither homely nor personal despite it being a 'homestay' - You are pretty much left on your own to deal with staff who speaks very, very basic English. The house also keeps a black labrador, but it is not ferocious so dont worry.

Our 10 day stay at "Eleven" was a very good experience for us. The lovely staff were always warm, smiling , courteous and attended to our needs quickly and kindly. The food was excelent and our rooms could not have been cleaned more thoroughly. Ajay was helpful from the moment we made our enquiries and gave us good advice on our stay, including how to go about booking train tickets for our travels.

We really enjoyed the little garden infront of our room as a place tp sit and rest in the afternoon sun. There were nice touches such as the daily marigold garlands arriving in newspaper paper rolls at breakfast time to adorn the Hindu garden statues and a very happy well fed household dog to enjoy.

We spent ten lovely days at Hotel Eleven this month with two young children. I had read the reviews (noting especially the reviews that praised the clean, the quiet, and the water pressure) and was happy when the hotel was available for our stay. We expected it would be a nice place.

What we didn't expect is that it would be like staying with kind friends. The beauty of this place is the thoughtfulness that goes into making the guests comfortable. And they think of pretty much everything! If you need something else, just ask, and they will graciously try to help you.

Are you arriving in the middle of the night? There will be someone up to greet you and show you to your room.

Are you cold? There is a small heater and extra comforters.

Are you hot? There are ceiling fans and windows you can leave open safely for air. (We were there in winter, so didn't need to test the AC.)

Do you want to recharge your laptop? The host has provided converters/adaptors in every room, so you don't need to bring one.

Want to use the internet? There is an excellent wireless signal throughout the hotel.

Did you forget your laptop? There is a computer available in the kitchen.

Want to stay healthy? They provide unlimited and generously available bottled water. You can keep it cold in the mini-frig in your room.

Hungry? Enjoy the daily breakfast with its excellently executed fare (fresh fruit, eggs, yogurt, etc.).

Need a cuppa? Tea is conveniently and generously available at all times.

Want to sightsee? Ask your host for one of his many trip suggestions. He has them written out with the reasonable auto-rickshaw fares noted.

Need a car? Ask your host, and he will arrange for an excellent driver at an excellent price.

Trying to get back from an adventure out? The host provides a wonderful business card with a map and other information to help your driver find the way.

The rooms are furnished simply but comfortably. The reasonable room/breakfast charge is outlined to you when you make a reservation and that is what you pay. There are no hidden charges or extras like you find at many other places. There is a Cafe Turtle and a small local market within easy walking distance. There is also a lovely public park half a block away.

We have beautiful memories of our stay and the wonderful people we met at the hotel. Ajay is just as kind and considerate as everyone says. The only bad part of our experience was having to leave!

I had arrived in Delhi from New York, and invited my retired parents and elder sister to join me there. We were very comfortable at Eleven, and enjoyed breakfast together. The proprietor, Ajay, was warm and helpful; his staff was quite exceptional. Eleven is located very close to Khan Market, where I found everything I needed; Ajay had also provided me a list of restaurants where I could call for take-out food on some nights. But it wasn't simply about Ajay. I met wonderful people there: a British engineer bringing water to dry areas; an Australian couple backpacking through small towns; an American woman bringing home a blind orphan boy from South India. I recommend Eleven highly!

I had booked to stay in Eleven over New Year's and Ajay was extremely quick answering emails etc. In the end we didn't stay there because he had a problem with his bathrooms. However, I wanted to contribute here because he sorted us out with alternative accommodation also in Nizamuddin at a friend's (India Boutique Inns, couldn't find it on tripdadvisor). While this was a slightly strange set-up with no-one else staying and just a 'caretaker' looking after it, it suited us well, and I wanted to record how helpful Ajay had been, keeping in contact with us at all stages, even ringing once we were in Delhi to find out if he could help us more. It gave me every confidence to stay with him in the future once his bathrooms were fixed! The area is also lovely, v close to the Durgah so good for listening to sufi music, and very quiet and chilled out.
