Well, we stayed here in May 2012 & had done the booking well in advance by directly contacting the owner of this property, Mr. Abhay Dogra, a very decent gentleman.. He was very kind & the whole staff was helpful. They also arranged a taxi for local sightseeing & travelling to Manali, Rohtang Pass & Chandigarh(which eventually was because of mistake of one of their staff who did Bus booking of wrong day!) although they were kind enough to accept their mistake and offered us a free stay for one night.
The property at first sight looks very dirty and OLD, which actually is NOT!
Although it's a bit out of Shimla (about 20-25 mins walk from The Mall), You can still enjoy at this very calm and cool place!
at Rs.1000-1250 per night don't expect much luxury but the room wasn't so big in size too.
We stayed at the room closest to reception (No views at all) the room which they offered us for free stay was far better and offered excellent views of the "queen of hill stations"!
Since we ate most of our meals outside, I'm not aware of their food quality.
Still an advice, do avoid eating here as the food stuff are priced too high, you can eat at one of the closest restaurant around named "blossom" by putting in some extra bucks! It's worth!! :)
People here including the Owner, manager as well as the whole staff is friendly & helpful.
Room service is not that fast though..But do try "adrak waali chai" and their special "aalu ka parantha"..Lovely!
Do insist them for showing the rooms where shooting of the movie "Bittoo Boss" was done! They are very friendly!!
