“Good rooms but PATHETIC SERVICE!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

1. Pathetic service..no hot water, many a times, no water at all...everytime, u need to call the housekeeping for hot water...highly lethargic staff
2. Food is overly priced but decent in terms of taste...rooms are also highly priced for the shoddy service
3. Resort is situated far from city
4. Rooms are big and clean and resort is very green and pleasant weather..

we had booked deluxe rooms, but they gave us standard rooms (we didn't know they were standard till a day later) and charged us for deluxe (though we had got a discount on overall deal)!!! Still, this was really bad hospitality and service!! Overall, if you do not have any other better options, only then go for this resort..

Room Tip: If you go during rainy season/winter, AC room is probably not required as weather is very pleasant a...

We were a group of 4 couples who were looking for a good weekend getaway from Bangalore. That's when we stumbled upon Chitravana resorts. We booked our rooms online and faced no hassles during our check in.
The place is near the Mysore Ring road and a little away from the main city. Our first impression of the resort was good. The place has a lot of greenery and the green cover or the location has not been tampered much with concrete.
The rooms were very neat. We had booked the AC cottages. Every room had a balcony facing the green garden and the bathrooms were very clean too. The minus is that, they do not provide drinking water bottles or jugs in the room. So you need to carry your water bottle and fill water from the water cans which is placed in every floor in the corridor. Room service was satisfactory.
About the outdoors, There is a basketball net, a small ground where you could play outdoor games, a duck pond, kids play area and a pool. We did not go towards the pool as it kept drizzling on and off and pool was not the place to be. So cannot comment much on that.
The small sporting equipment like shuttles, racquets, bat, balls etc were readily and easily available.
There were a lot of interesting bird species that we spotted in the resort. and beware of insects too.
The restaurant is just ok. The food was priced ok and the taste was average. Not too good but not bad either. Stay away from cocktails.
There was some band performing some hindi retro music towards the evening and they had some very good singers as well.
Overall, the resort is good. But there is nothing much to do here, beyond a day or two. Would recommend the place to anybody who wants to just have a quiet weekend away from the hustle bustle of the city.

This happens to be my second visit. This place is the best suited for people who want to be in a forest like environment and completely on a relaxed mode.

Accomdation, food are good. Could have been better if they can some more leisure activities other than badminton, cricket etc.

Staff are friendly and very supportive.

Strongly recommended for family, friends & couple stay

Room Tip: For A/C lovers - Delux room Non A/C lovers and home feel enviornment - Cottage will be best Abso...

I visit chitravana every year to cool my nerves down from my hectic schedule and routine job. This time it was very special as it was my son's first visit and he is just 18 months. He enjoyed the freedom, the nature, the ducks, had bath in the pool, lovely moments. Mostly the dinner time live music, he was dancing in joy on the stage and there was candle light dinner too.
Overall as usual and as expected an awesome experience.

Had been to chitravana for an outing to relax .
Positives: good ambiance, feel like in midst of nature surrounded by trees and chirping sounds of birds, and has a pool(did not use it though), open air theater was a highlight (spent a quality time )which had an orchestra with good melodies along with a candle light dinner and an artificial rain of sorts in the middle of dining area.,
good rooms as showed in pics neat and hygienic ( had taken a double AC room)

Scope of improvement:
quality of Veg. Food to be looked into and one Billing for restaurant to be made during check out rather than disturbing after each meal(which was annoying)
Conveyance: better to have a own transport ( bus frequency is less from Mysore)

Room Tip: Book a double AC room

Located about 10 kms south of Mysore city, this resort is a botanist's delight. Different flora have been randomly grown with the occasional terracota and stones thrown in. Children enjoyed the decent play area and the duck pond. Weekend usually seems to have an orchestra. Food was good and was customised for children (need to be told)

Pros :
good location, nice & clean rooms, good for a family outing

Cons :
not much of sports/activities, slow room service, housekeeping minimal, water runs out quite often. nothing much to do around as it is quite isolated from city

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms seem to be better than the normal ones. Has induction stove & mini fridge ! No tea...

I have been to Chitravana resort for a night stay. As soon as you enter the place it feels like you have come to forest to stay. First impression of the property is good. But hold on, this is definitely not an example of "first impression is the last impression". The property is not maintained at all. Swimming pool is in bad condition. Food quality is extremely poor and the service just make sure that your hunger dies before food is being served on the table.
The person who was on the reception was drunk and could not calculate the total bill. It took more than 40 mins for him to calculate the final bill. Moreover, they do not give you the proper bill mentioning clearly about the actual amount and the tax.
Its better to be at home and do something rather than wasting your money to stay in this place and cursing yourself while checking out.
