“Average Stay Option”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

A average stay option - even not economical the meals is average the location of Hotel is Best but the old wing rooms which are facing to road are not good and the sleep may get disturb.

The New wing which is under completion is Good option

the hotel is having Bar but the Staff and Service is not good a typical Govt culture is visible in most of the services and even you may find few typical Babu's ( Govt Employees) boozing during evening enough to destroy your evening.

Among all the State govt runs hotel the Karnataka experience is worst only Favorable factor is Location of Property and Size of Property so parking is no issue - well connected with the public transport.

Just opposite the Hotel Mc Donald's out let is good option to eat if you do not like the food in hotel.

Room Tip: May take rooms in New Wing which is just getting constructed the Old wind is not so good for stay

The room is big and clean, have a garden outside the building, but quite noisy because is next to the road.
Restaurant is not really delicious, have McDonald just opposite the hotel.
The staffs are super helpful and sweet

literally walkable distance from mysore junction railway.Hotel is well maintained and their rules and regulations are not customer friendly. Please note that the check-in time of this hotel is 12 noon, If you go even 10 min before, staff do not allow you to check-in even the rooms are available. The main plus point of the hotel is its location, karnataka tourism office is in the same campus from there you can book for local sightseeing trip.Food is satisfactory at their restaurant(we had lunch and dinner there). Please note the Bar is attached to this restaurant(particularly in the evenings it's difficult to dine there with the family).I stayed two nights in this hotel with my family. All n All it's OK type experience.

The place is cheap with surprisingly spacious rooms. Service is almost non-existent thanks to the people running this place. It does have a beautiful small garden facing all rooms to make stay slightly more cheerful.

We stayed there for 3 days. The place is okay if you just want to relax at the end of the day after sightseeing. It does not have restaurant as deep as I looked but there are good places nearby. You can order a pizza if you are too lazy.

it is very close to Mysore railway station and hence a good choice if you are coming by train from Bangalore etc. Most of the time of the year, getting rooms will not be a problem. The prices are on lower side and you can definitely pick this if you are on tight budget. Otherwise look for other options slightly deeper in the city.

Room Tip: Nothing particular. All rooms seem to be equivalent

I usually prefer to stay in government tourism department hotels as these are the mostly located at the best location among their peers. However, this does not apply to the hotels located in well known cities like Mysore. Mayura Hoysala is located very near to the railway station, however there are many other good options around the same area like Metropole and King's Court etc. I booked it as it was available :), but kept my expectations low. And I was right in keeping it low, the room (no 103) was of medium size, the bathroom was clean and big but plumbing was an issue as the faucet was leaking. Only soap was available in the bathroom accessories, of course with towels. There are only two AC rooms, and I booked the same hence no information on other rooms. The manager was helpful however the room service reflected the usual government approach, laid back and do not care attitude. But, I believe you will not eat here as there are many other better options in the city.
So, if your requirement is only to use the room for night sleep then it would be a good option, however if you want to stay in the hotel for most of your time then this is not the place to be in.
At the reception, they have tourism brochures published by Karnataka Tourism Department which are very handy if you want to visit various tourist spots in and around Mysore. You can also get Mysore map from the reception desk which is very helpful.
The bar at Yatri Nivas is very popular among locals and is usually crowded at night, however it does not have any bad impact over the hotel. Another convenient thing is that the daily day trip of Mysore, sponsored by the tourism department, starts from this hotel.

This Hotel is run by KSTDC. I have been here twice, stayed for 1 night each time. I like the heritage feel and look of this place. But lacks maintenance. Some construction was going on. So lets hope things change for better. The other part, Mayura Yatrinivas has improved a lot after renovation. The restaurant is in this part now. Food quality has improved from my previous experience of 2010. The location of the hotel is very good. Also there is a lawn in front where one can seat and relax.
On the downside there is no room service, rooms are small although the bathrooms are quite big.
Stay here if you want to stay in city. Online booking facility is available, that is another plus.

Its an okay place... but would advise only if you have run out of options. Typical government run place frequented by a lot of local people for the bar. Rooms are small and lack of maintenance and upkeep have started showing. Also some construction work is on at present (Jun 12) and hence their restaurant is not functioning.
