“The Proof of the Pudding”
Reviewed 10 December 2011

We spent 8 days at IVAC in November. The weather was perfect, no need for air conditioning, the grounds are immaculate and lovely, very secure, the ambiance quiet and peaceful, the treatments heavenly, the service was excellent.

We booked a package which included several treatments each day. This is not a budget hotel. It is a wellness spa with a variety of packages to choose from. The package prices are very reasonable. The Abhyanga massage with 4 hands or varieties of it are offered every day. The ayurvedic doctors were very accommodating to our needs and willing to make changes in our schedules to our convenience.

The food is very simple, cooked to perfection, mostly vegetables and rice, always great soups. Fabulous papaya every morning and a lovely dessert with lunch. The vegies and fruits are home grown and organic! Juice and Herb drinks are simple but very special. The center has its own herbal garden down the road a few km. The food is first and foremost health oriented. But it is always aesthetically presented buffet style and with great variety of vegetables. It is ayurvedic fare and guaranteed to make one feel better. We ate abundantly, enjoyed the tastes and the very clean dining room and helpful staff. Fresh breads were made on the spot.

The yoga and meditation were excellent. The instructor familiarized himself with our various needs and ailments and adjusted the lesson to fit those needs. I had not practiced yoga for many years but after a few days, it became something I looked forward to with delight in knowing that it would be beneficial.

The friendly family atmosphere brings together travelers from all parts of India and from all parts of the globe. The garden villas near the beautiful swimming pool are highly recommended. There is great respect for the guests. The therapists come to your room to escort you to your treatment and afterwards, escort you back to your room. They are well-trained and considerate. You will feel very well taken care of.

Mysore town, and its famous palace, is quite close by as is Chamundi Hill. Nice places to wonder around, shop, enjoy the local scene.

We felt better, much better, after 8 days and we were sorry to have to leave. Not only did we lose some weight , while never feeling hungry, but we are still shedding a bit of weight at home, as it seems that our dietary needs have become more regulated. The diet seems to quiet ones cravings. So 3 weeks later, we are still feeling the benefits of the food, the treatments, the herbs and the yoga. As I wrote in the title, the proof of the pudding is in the pie!! We hope to return next year.

Room Tip: garden villa

Miss the treatment... miss the chai that I would have against the advice of the doctor. Miss the amazing the therapist, nice/friendly doctors, the room boys, the dining guys. And the two yoga instructors- Naveen and Rita.
Miss the chanting of the OM, miss the simple vegetarian meals, miss the holistic living. It was one hell of three weeks. Need to earn some money to be able to be back there... Everything about IVAC or Indus Valley ayurveda centre is just simply great. There will definitely be many more visit. Thank you everyone at IVAC for making this three most wonderful three weeks of my life. Life Changing experience. KEEP IT UP.

If one knows absolutely nothing about Ayurveda or good resorts in India, it could be called a good place. Otherwise, it's a place where people take you for a ride. Or more accurately, they take the ill-informed foreign tourists for a ride. If Ayurvedic treatment is your priority, please find a good resort in Kerala. They are genuine there. IVAC has no security whatsoever. There are snakes, frogs and other insects and we found them even in our rooms. The doctors are utterly out of knowledge. I bet they studied in the worst colleges for they couldn't find any other degree for the marks they got. The food. Where do I even begin. You can make them at home. It's healthy. Certainly. But not worth what they charge.
If you can pay the prices they offer, I'd certainly opt for a 5 star or a 3 star hotel in the city. If Ayurvedic treatments are my priority, I'd look for better places in Kerala, where there are genuine treatments which are not just an eye wash like here in IVAC. I miht have come across as hard reviewer here, but it's the truth.

Room Tip: Don't rely on their words of safety. frogs, snakes, insects, ants, stray dogs, stray people... y...

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to know that your stay at IVAC was not comfortable.IVAC is not just a hotel. It is a health resort. We do get people from all over the world who are really ill and also healthy and want to get healthier. It is a place to unwind. Relax and rejuvenate. We have well experienced doctors who have treated the cases which was really a challenge to allopathy medicine also, so we request you not to comment on professionals without having in depth knowledge of that science. We welcome you to visit us again and we like to offer you a complimentary consultation with our doctor.

We visited IVAC on Nov 2011 with family and kids and it was a much pleasant experience then we thought. People are nice, place is big and clean. However It's away from City (7km) so you definately need a car for local travel. I was little skeptical reading one of the earlier reviews but didn't faced any problem. Dog is there but is calm and I think is needed for their safety. Food is little costly as compared to local restaurants, although nice food. Chef does take of your specific food choices. Swimming Pool is working. Ayurvedic treatments are Good though costly as compared to Kerala. Overall good experience. Budget rooms could have been made little bigger keeping in mind the large place that they have but is not a major issue. TV was provided on request. Resort Manager Mr. Bala and his team was very helpful. For Budget Travellers, If you are ready to spend little more, will strongly recommend to stay at IVAC and enjoy the facilities of Nice Resort.

I got exactly what I was looking for at Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre, is exceptionally well organised, with friendly catering staff, spotless facilities and lovely grounds. Food is simple, non-spicy vegetarian with no preservatives and food color added, and a choice of warm or room temperature water. Alcohol and smokes are banned.
Treatments are decided on at your initial doctor's consultation as per our medical findings; The massage treatments are just fabulous and the therapists are excellent. On top of that, the yoga instructor was extremely tolerant of a complete and utter novice and made me look forward to each session, of course the most guest delighted person The Resort Manager was extremely hospitable.
It is great value for the money and for those of you looking for a quiet few days to completely and utterly de-stress, you'd do well to beat it and get Rejuvenated...

Room Tip: Villas and Cottages are just like a vedic lifestyle

This is my second visit to this beautiful and unique detox centre in 2011. My first visit was in Jan for 2 weeks and now I am currently at the same place for 21 days Panchkarma. I have had lot of Ayurvedic experience, and being a hotelier myself( Ladakh Sarai/and a travel agent), I am very fussy... but this place calms me down. Spa quality for the price and attention of each therapist is class apart.. this therapist knows their job and in their consistency of delivery, you can surely make out that the management has invested lot of care, love and training of these guys. It continues, i still have more than 17 days left at the centre, for sure, there will be many more visit to this abode of detox. There are areas of improvement, but than if there'sn't one.. the fun dies out for the management... the constant engagement to excel and to make each guest happy>... the thirst for YEH DIL MANGE MORE...DIES... good work indus... I am having a blast.

I finsihed my trip in South India with 3 days of treatment in the Indus Valley Ayurvedic center...I wish I could stayed longer.
The staff was really professional and the facilities very good.

I will come back for a longer stay next time.
IVAC is the perfect place to rest and regenerate body and soul.
