“excellent place”

Very serene place. Wish to stay there for a few days for peace and calm. The architecture is too good. You feel you are in Tibet while at that place

“Unexpected beauty”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We were on our way to Mysore and decided to visit this monastery. After parking, I was taken by surprise by being approached by children begging. My first encounter after a week travelling in India. It was a mistake to give a few rupees,as soon I was surrounded by appealing hands all expecting more money to be given.
Inside the gates however, a peaceful feeling pervades. The grounds are lovely . Before entering the great hall, footwear must be removed and is left at a stall and collected upon leaving for a few rupees. The Interior of the great hall is beautiful with many revered figures of Tibetan Buddhism in gilded statues and panel paintings. The grounds are lovely and the souvenir shops sell good quality souvenirs. A highlight for me was the curiosity of the school children approaching us and asking where we came from. Happy faces and enquiring minds.....delightful.
Thoroughly recommend a visit.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

The monastery and its famous Golden Temple are only two of the attractions of Bylakuppe. The Tibetan settlement with the legendary Sera Mey and Sera Jey Monasteries is an absolute oasis of peace which takes one from India to Tibet and to a different time. I thoroughly recommend visiting Namdroling as a day trip from Mysore. It's only 1.45hrs away from the city by car, and absolutely worth the time and the expense!

“A Peaceful Religious Place with no Entry Fees or Camera Charges”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

Its a beautiful and peaceful place and gives you the feeling of having reached some place in Tibet. The entire settlement is clean and full of vibrance.
Surprisingly there in no Entry fees or any extra charges for Camera. The only thing you need to pay is Rs.2/- for a pair of shoe storage in the racks and Rs.20/- for 4-wheeler parking.
Inside the Temple the idols of Buddha and other Buddhist gods are breathtakingly beautiful and mesmerizing. You start to feel a sense of energy once inside the compound.
Restaurants are available outside the temple and also some street market where you need to bargain a lot before you get to the final price.
