“Very nice place in a quiet area of Mysore”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

The rooms are very spacious and clean, they even have a fridge with beverages and you can make your own tea in your room which is very convenient. The service was really good, they have a washing machine for your laundry and help you with taxi bookings etc. The neighborhood is very nice, calm and clean and there is a bus going to the centre which stops just in front of the house.
The only disadvantage for me was that there are no common rooms except for the lobby and so you might not meet other guests which made it a little bit boring for me to stay there as a solo traveller. But if you travel as a family or a couple it should be perfect for you if you like to have some privacy which can be difficult in other homestays.

Tulip homestay is a good place to stay in Mysore. The room was very spacious, clean and maintained well. This is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and reaching most tourist places is fairly easy. The manager was very helpful with our extra requirements (we have 2 small children)

Tulips Homestay is a good place for a small family break if you are visiting Mysore. This place is in a residential neighborhood and hence quiet but at the same time if you are not with a vehicle like me, one is dependent on auto rickshaws and taxis. But one or two autos that park outside the place, hence finding one isn't difficult.
I could go on a long morning walk being away from the busy roads.

We chose a family A/C room, which was spacious and well furnished. They provide extra beds for the kids. The linen is very clean and the rooms are well maintained.

Breakfast is included and ordered from a nearby restaurant.
Few areas to improve - The cable connection had very limited choice and especially with kids around lot more channels are required.
Breakfast was served around 8.40 am - wish this was available from at least 7.30 am.

Mr. Moin, the manager of this place, is very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here last weekend - Aug 9th Ramzan long weekend. After very good reviews from this site, I could imagine little going wrong but on the contrary a lot went much better than expected. This is located in a beautiful area, very peaceful and clean. The rooms are even better - very very spacious, super clean with ample furniture, very clean bathroom. Since its not too hot during this time, we booked a non-AC room but Mr. Kaveriapa stunned us giving a free upgrade to an AC room. Something to appreciate since I haven't had such an upgrade in India before.
There was absolutely no noise whatsoever during the night and of course resulted in a good nights sleep. The breakfast is procured from nearby restau, which was hygienic and good.

My only bad experience was the nearby iron wallah who made me stand 30 mins to iron out a single shirt and on top another 5 mins haggling for change. had to walk to the very nearby shop to buy just so I get the change. This is entirely irrelevant to my stay with Tulips but I imagined having a common iron box that can be provided on request would have made my morning a lot better. I should also mention that the manager, Mr. Moin offered to get the shirt pressed but i didn't want to disturb him and ended up with the bad experience. 30 mins for pressing a shirt when visiting a place is a ridiculous amount time. anyways, just mentioned so this can be planned by the readers.

My overall stay was excellent and I wouldn't have a second thought to stay again at Tulips. Many thanks to Kaveriapa and Moin!!

Stayed in Tulip's home stay in first week of August. Initially had booked for Non/Ac one night stay (Tulip's check out time is 2 pm) but on request they politely agreed to extend our check out time to 4 pm (It was a weekday may be no guests were expected, but point is they are flexible). After checkout and some sight seeing, we decided to stay for one more night at Tulip's. out of two Non/Ac rooms, one was yet to be cleaned and the other one was cleaned but Kaveriappa (owner) found something smelly and gave us one of the A/C Rooms (for the cost of non/Ac room). Kaveriappa is very humble, down to earth & not at all greedy. Moin (Manager) is also very approachable and helpful.

Dinner is complimentary, i will not write anything about it since we had breakfast outside on both days.

Summary:
Very good spacious rooms (bigger than Ginger, Mysore) for the cost (budget stay). Locality is 5 kms away from Palace, hardly need 10 - 15 mins to reach this place. Few good mysore restaurants with high ratings on Trip Advisor are nearby. Tina's Cafe, Anu's Cafe, Oyster Bay etc

Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are spacious and good.Total 5 Rooms (2 Non A/C & 3 A/C) Non A/C -> 300 Square Feet...
