Owner description: Royal Mysore Walks, we are bunch of locals who enjoy showing you around the city that we love and call home. There is more to this city than what meets the eye, that is pretty much the case with most cities in this world that's worth a visit. We run open tours on several themes that you can join, or we could customise a private tour for your group, just ask! Choose from taking a walk, riding a bike, jumping on a jeep, or if you have your transport we are happy to take you for a ride in it!!! Why just visit when you can experience, is what we like to say!

that we had with Vinay from Royal Mysore Walks.
We started at Wellington Lodge with some history stories (which brought together the Duke of Wellington, Tipu Sultan and Napoleon) and then headed to the famous Devaraja market. On the way we stopped at a streetside temple, to assist a puja ritual.
Devaraja is surely one of the loveliest markets one can find in India. A huge vibrant mix of colours and smells plus friendly atmosphere! Our guide Vinay was of great help, explaining vegs and fruits and local customs to us. Other locals also joined in, when they saw we needed some instructions on how to use a clay oil lamp, for example... :) This market is certainly a dream spot for photoholics, of course, anywhere you turn there is a picture waiting to be taken.
We ended our tour with some Mysore sweets and a glass of delicious badam milk from a shop Vinay pointed out to us.
I would definitely recommend a walk with a local guide while in Mysore. You will get to know much more in a short while, compared to walking by yourself. Great work, RMW guys :)

Such an excellent experience! Vinay met me on my first afternoon in Mysore and we visited several important cultural and historical sights while telling the story of the local history, the arrival of the English and the death of Tipu Sultan. Standing on the battlements of the fortress at Seringapatam in the glow of the late afternoon sun, one could feel the history of the surroundings.

The bicycle ride with Vishwas through the neighborhoods of Mysore and later our walk through the Mysore Market were truly fine experiences. I think that these locations may well epitomize the scenes that many people envision when thinking of India.

Vidyashree and Vishwas arranged a cooking lesson that was truly one of the highlights of my trip to India. Mrs Meena is an excellent cook, the lesson went very well, and sharing an excellent meal with such fine people while enjoying a wide ranging conversation on India, the USA, and the state of the world was truly a memorable experience.

Wonderful way to look at some history of Mysore with Vidya, who lead the tour comprehensively.
Tour was very interesting and informative. Vidya was very enthusiastic and vivacious, leading the tour gently without making any hurry though in the prime time of the city, especially while explaining about the market and its speciality. I loved the tour utmost and moreover I thank Vidya, who made me feel proud to be a mysorean...

Having read the rave reviews of Royal Mysore Tours on TripAdvisor, we went in with sky high expectations. Luckily we were not disappointed. Our tour guide was Vidya and our tour was the Elements Tour (combination of history + Mysore market + food tour). The entire tour was run very professionally and moreover Vidya our tour guide was fantastic. Not only is she a great story teller, but along with that she is quite aware of all the culture and history associated to Mysore. Every aspect of the tour was good. We visited some lovely historical locations in Mysore and got to hear some great stories about each one of them. In the process we also tasted some delicious local food. But for us the visit to the Mysore market was what really stood out. It was awash with colour from all the beautiful flowers, fragrance from the perfumers’ and I can still taste some of the bananas that I had there. (Even my 3 year old son enjoyed that bit of the walk :D ). We were up from 4 in the morning (BOM-BLR flight was at 6) and had traveled all the way from Bombay, via Bangalore, and yet, thanks to Vidya's enthusiasm, the beautiful stories and the yummy food, what could have been a tedious 3 hours, slipped by almost unnoticed and at the end of it we were sorry that we had to say good-bye to Vidya! All in all an evening well spent. I would recommend the Royal Mysore Tour as an absolute must for all visitors.

We took the Royal Mysore walks cycling tour. Both of us being biking enthusiasts, cycling tour was our first choice. But we liked some bits of the walking tour and wanted it included in our cycling tour. They understood what we wanted and customized a fabulous tour for us!

Biking in the early hours on Mysore's empty streets, feeling the fresh air, listening to the birds chirp... was a perfect start for the day. Vishwas, our guide, a friendly chap, was a great story teller! The tour was conducted at a nice pace. We were not rushed through any bit and Vishwas was more than happy to stop for pictures :). The tour included biking through the old city, checking out heritage buildings, bit of history of the city & the Maharajas of Mysore, morning chai at a local tea stall and a sumptuous Mysorean breakfast.
We had a great time. Thank you!
