Mrs Ganga is very nice and helps you a lot organize your staying in Mysore.
The room is very spacious and clean and the place is near downtown, just around the corner there are tuk tuk drivers and a bus stop.
Very nice cooking too

If you want to experience real Home Stay, just go to Shatnhi Niwas and meet the most adorable family.

We stayed with Ganga's family 4 days in March 2013. As foreigners, we had the opportunity to meet a real Indian family and to learn a lot from them about Indian way of life. Finally we are not so different, everyone want's the best for their kids, enjoys nice food and likes to share life experiences with others.

Ganga and her family were so great and nice. Her kids are sweet, kind, polite and the daughter will be a future Bollywood star dancer. We felt warmly welcomed in their home, we shared with them each breakfast and spent evenings talking, talking and talking...

Ganga really takes care that guests feel safe and happy, she's full of great advices even in a last minute, always a good suggestion. We really miss you all :)

Very big thanks to you and your husband for the last minute arrangement for the sleeping in Bangalore, we felt like V.I.Ps in this noisy city.

We hope to come again, for a couple of days in our next Indian trip, Mysore was a lovely town!

Well this is a late post.We stayed in April 2012.
The most uncomfortable place of stay till date amongst so many places we have stayed..
We had planned for 2 days but due to the inconvenient stay we shortened our trip by 1 day.

The room was extremely hot with so many mosquitoes. The curtains were very light cloured and not clean. The bed and mattress and the linen was very old and not comfortable. We spent the night sleepless with frustration thinking why we chose the place to stay.

The inverter was kept in the guest room where we stayed which was also emitting heat.

The following day breakfast which was given (Complimentary) had exactly 11 idlis with dal for 2 adults and 1 kid which was more dissapointing for us ..

Rs 650 per person is a loot for such a bad stay quality..We could have stayed in a better hotel with AC for that price..

Well reading the extremely good reviews in Tripadvisor we seriously get a doubt whether they are real experiences by travellers who have stayed in Shanthi Niwas..

The host were pleasant which was the only positive..

THIS PLACE IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYBODY UNLESS THEY IMPROVE THE STAY QUALITY..

Room Tip: please stay away from this B&B.If there were negative ratings I would give that.

The host family at this homestay is very friendly and helpful. They helped us to arrange a trip around Mysore and the surrounding attractions and gave advice about places to visit as well as a very good local restaurant. We got to stay on the second floor which could be accessed by a staircase outside the house. The accomodation consisted of two rooms with an attached bathroom so there is plenty of space. All this would give this place 5 stars, but I had problems with sleeping, because the matress was old and gave me the feeling to lay right on the wood. Additionally it was bright in the morning because the curtains were too thin. The attached bathroom is very simple and we could take the showers only traditionally; out of a bucket. Because of the friendly host we really enjoyed our stay, but buying a new matress and adding darker curtains could even improve this accomodation. We paid 650 rs. per person, including breakfast.

If you look at the photo on this Tripadvisor page you will see the suite we stayed in, up amongst the trees on a very quiet street. That large, glass-enclosed porch/bedroom - where you will be tempted to lounge about with a cup of tea and a good book in spite of all Mysore has to offer - is attached to the main bedroom. Lots of space to spread out, very comfortable. But what makes this a homestay and not just a nice accommodation is the family, the delicious meals, the knowing that you have met very very special.people; Ganga and Cari are wonderful, lots of fun and very helpful, and their children are delightful. Shanthi Niwas is real gem.
