Reviewed 22 August 2014

I Hav visited many palaces but never seen any better than this ... The light illusions in the night is the best of any class .. Mesmerised by those lights which illuminate the whole mysore palace .. And the best time is to visit during DASARA festival .. The whole of mysore will b illuminated with LED lights ...

“Mysore Palace, Bangalore, India”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

Wow the best part was the drive from the City to Mysore, it was incredible about 2.5 to 3 hrs from Taj Vivanta in Bangalore and about 4.5 to 5 hours back when you hit rush hour in Bangalore city.
We left at 6am prior to traffic and our driver wad amazing. Cost is a where from 5000 INR to 9000 depending who you use.
On the two way road you may have lanes of traffic with cars tractors cows and people
bikes motorcycles dogs buses and more with everyone honking and going in different directions it's crazy!,,,,
Mysore palace is a place to see if you have made the long journey to this area of India but I was not personally overwhelmed by it. The guide we hired gave surface information on the displays but did not really have a good knowledge of the history other than the paintings are three dimensional and follow you with their eyes, sort of cool.
Make sure you go the bathroom before you go. Hole in the floor but that didn't really bug me, although you would think with the entrance fees the Government could keep them in better shape.
All in all you are in India so if you want a piece of history venture to Mysore Palace, I shall not make the Trek again, and distance was very tough to be in a car all day.

“Brilliant when lit”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We visited the palace on a public holiday and as expected it was very crowded. However, the lighting at 7 pm made up for everything and the palace looked glorious when hundreds of bulbs glowed at once. The palace alone made the visit to Mysore worth it.
