“Beautiful well maintained temple”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

The Keshava temple at Somanathpura is a beautiful Hoysala dynasty temple on state highway 79 about three hours from Bangalore and an hour away from Mysore. It's kinda small but beautifull and very well maintained. I would highly recommend a guide(rs 300) to point out the highlights. There are three garbagrihas and since the idols were chipped by the mughal emperors they are not worshipped anymore.
Do come prepared to spend 1-2 hours here. Not much food around and there are restrooms on the site.

“Beautiful architecture and carvings”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Very nice maintained temple complex. Very good architecture and carvings. Its a shame to see that very few people visit this place. Needs to be advertised more so that more and more people can see and appreciate the art.

“Take a guide”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Take a guide to visit such temples to know more about attention to detail int he carvings of the temple. We do study history but not as much. The guide explained a lot about the temple and architecture. Enjoyed spending time at this place. Unlike other heavily crowded temples, this one is less visited and good for photography. Can spend half day and take some very nice photos.
