This review is for the Malgudi Cafe inside The Green Hotel. We did not eat at the main restaurant.
The cafe was not worth visiting, unless perhaps you are staying at The Green Hotel. We visited while just exploring the outskirts of the city and killing time and were not impressed. We ordered masala chai, a fresh lime soda, and lemon swirl cake. We were the only customers and it was 3pm on a Wednesday, but this simple order took 30 minutes to fill. When it came out, the tea was room temperature and the soda was incredibly sweet. The cake, however, was delicious and had been heated up which was a nice surprise.
The prices were average and the location is not super convenient, though taking the city bus out there was cheap, efficient, and a lot of fun. It is bus 266, which you can pick up at the Central Bus Station behind Mysore Palace. The trip is about 15 minutes, there's a bus stop directly in front of the Hotel, and it costs about 15 rupees per person. It says something that the bus ride there and back was the highlight of our visit.
