“Good ambience bad service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014 via mobile

The outdoor seating at the green hotel is delightful.. The day I went for dinner was perfect for outdoor seating as it had recently rained and the open air restaurant was very inviting.. However, the staff was quite rude especially the waiter waiting on me.. He got the wrong order twice and showed extreme displeasure in setting it right..

“Cake!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

I loved the chocolate cake! There were good veg and non-veg options. It was very quiet on the grounds. Kid friendly.

“The perfect place for afternoon tea and cake”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

We visited here for a quick afternoon tea and cake stop. The cafe is a very pretty courtyard within the grounds of the green hotel. A little oasis of calm away from the traffic and noise of the city. As you walk into the cafe you are greeted by the smell of cakes being baked! We had mint tea, masala chai and date and walnut cake, I can highly recommend the cake, it was lovely and tasted of caramelised date! Well worth a visit, also I understand the hotel tries to be ethical and the cafe staff are women from underpriveledgd backgrounds. Our waitress was lovely and very smiley and efficient.

“Nothing Special”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2014

This review is for the Malgudi Cafe inside The Green Hotel. We did not eat at the main restaurant.

The cafe was not worth visiting, unless perhaps you are staying at The Green Hotel. We visited while just exploring the outskirts of the city and killing time and were not impressed. We ordered masala chai, a fresh lime soda, and lemon swirl cake. We were the only customers and it was 3pm on a Wednesday, but this simple order took 30 minutes to fill. When it came out, the tea was room temperature and the soda was incredibly sweet. The cake, however, was delicious and had been heated up which was a nice surprise.

The prices were average and the location is not super convenient, though taking the city bus out there was cheap, efficient, and a lot of fun. It is bus 266, which you can pick up at the Central Bus Station behind Mysore Palace. The trip is about 15 minutes, there's a bus stop directly in front of the Hotel, and it costs about 15 rupees per person. It says something that the bus ride there and back was the highlight of our visit.

“Nice setting, very average food. ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2014 via mobile

The grounds are beautiful, the staff are well presented but the food is far too expensive for what you get in return. I ate two meals here and while both were pleasant, mostly due to the company and surroundings, the food was distinctly average. If I order a sandwich, I would like for some of the filling advertised in the menu to end up in the sandwich, rather than wonder if I'm eating bread with a hint of something subtlety hidden.

Come here if you want to enjoy a nice ambiance without too much consideration for value or money.
