If you are looking for a traditional restaurant of Mysore, look no further. The one at Hotel Dasprakash is one such and was built some decades ago and has not been refurbished since it was constructed. So it retains a charm of yester-years and is large and airy unlike most other restaurants in the city of Mysore. The furniture and upholstery are old and not maintained well but the service is good. As my friend accompanying me for lunch knew the staff, we got good service. I settled for Water Melon Juice and a Mysore Masala Dosa for lunch. The Mysore Masala Dosa gets its name from Mysore and is different in that there is a smearing of red chutney inside. However, unlike at restaurants of other cities, the Mysore Masala Dosa at Das Prakash is not very spicy and not very heavy. It is made with the right balance of oil and spice and is thus tasty and filling. The prices are very reasonable. Do head out to this restaurant for a feel of food like it was made some decades ago at many good Mysore restaurants.

We went there for Breakfast and Dinner. The food tastes good comparing to other veg. restaurants in Mysore. But the service is very poor. They don't have enough set of bearers for the area of restaurant. Half the service area looks to be closed always.

I was not expecting a great ambiance anyway, but it was both the service and the taste of the food that put me off. It almost felt as if we had entered an inefficient govt office. Nobody took orders. people around were getting thalis by dozen and we were not even asked. the person at the counter was not friendly either, never explaining options available. The food was average with more salt than to our liking. I have had much better south indian food elsewhere ( and i am a fan of that style of food). Maybe it was just us but we felt the place was not worth a visit.
