I and my friends planned a get together in Mysore and planned to experiment the Pai Vista hotel.
It had so many surprises for us with the forest restaurent and a good swimming pool up in the terrace.
The food they served also was excellent. The lime soda which we had ordered will be in our memory for a long time...
And there was a pub which I didnt visit but my friends told me its a great place !!!!!!
and the cost was moderate ... Above all the service was also very good.

The short stay at Pai Vista was great!! The ambience was good and the room service was quite prompt. The food needs a special mention as the buffet in the "Jungle" was really worth it.. Overall a very good place to stay.

LOCATION & PROPERTY
Pai Vista is a very centrally located hotel within walking distance of the Mysore Palace.
That being said, the property is built on a small patch of land, with shabby looking commercial buildings on either side. My 1st floor (US 2nd floor) 'comfort' room overlooked the adjacent office building's rear parking lot. Not a view you would care for in India, and I preferred to keep the curtains drawn.

ROOM
The room itself was satisfactory, with a double bed (twin-beds if you request it), stocked refrigerator (pay to consume), coffee-tea maker (teabags, instant coffee, etc. complimentary), television, and split-unit AC.
The TV had grainy picture, probably due to poor signal quality. Not something I cared for, so I did not complain.

BATHROOM
The bathroom could have done with some more lights in the shower area, and over the mirror. I got a few nicks while shaving for want of a little more light. I was not too happy with the shower area. I saw traces of mold/mildew in corners, and the flooring was noticeably sub-par. Overall though, the bathroom fixtures, range of complimentary toiletries, and cleanliness was acceptable.

RESTAURANTS
The hotel has two restaurants: Jungle, and Gufha (cave). While they offer different ambience, they share the same menu. I had food at Gufha -- good value for money.

AMENITIES
Free access to gym, and swimming pool (on the terrace).

SERVICE
I had limited interaction with the hotel staff. But they seemed friendly, and attentive.

VERDICT
3-star hotel that offers good value for money.

Post Diwali, October 2009, we were visiting Mysore as tourists. As usual, our first online reference was tripadvisor.in, where we found mixed but positive reviews for Pai Vista and good reviews for Regaaalis @ Mysore. Located the hotel websites and saw the room pics for Pai Vista but couldnt locate room pics for Regaalis. Also referred to other travel sites like travelguru.com for reviews and found them positive. Posted enquiries to both the hotels, both were prompt in replying. Rates were good, and they offered a good discount as a direct customer. Wanted to book in Reegalis, but couldnt see pics online and rates too were on higher side, plus 3 email queries went unreplied. Pai Vista was prompt in replies and gave a good deal, hence booked the same for 3 nights by payment of 50% advance.

Location : Hotel location is good - bang opposite the bus depot (we travelled from Bangalore in KSRTC Volvo - reached in 3 hours). Added advantage is an adjacent shopping mall which becomes very helpful when travelling with family - medicines, photos, fruits etc. Autos available immediately (minimum fare Rs. 15). Station is only 10 minutes in auto. Mysore Palace is walking 10 min, all major veg restaurants in walking distance 5 / 10 mins.

Rooms : We took a Luxury room - 1 bedroom + 1 smaller sitting room - both equipped with individual TV, bathroom and split AC. We got an extra bed put up in the sitting room, so we had a sort of seperate childrens room ! Rooms were decent. There was only one remote for both the AC's. Bathrooms were clean and nice but small and tiles seemed dated, shower was not upto mark. Overall decent facility. Select rooms 2nd floor & above to avoid loud noise from Rock bar on 1st floor.

Service : Prompt. No complains here. All issues were attended to immediately. Although checkout isat 12, we got extended till 5 p.m. that too with a smile - best part.

Travel desk : Ok - was a fresher so was of limited assistance. Check market rates before booking. Car & driver provided were decent. Caution - do take care of your belongings - we lost a mobile phone from a purse kept inside the car all the while. Would also be nice to checkout Mysore travel agency located at Jaganmohan palace - found their rates to be comparable without need for negotiation.

Gym / Pool : NIce little gym with basic equip. Swimming pool - they cleaned up the pool surface when we saw floating dust layer & insects.

Restaurants : Nice themes - Jungle & Gufha (Cave) - worth a visit for the decor. Breakfast in Jungle was good. Beware of the hot toaster - I burnt my fingers. Gufha food was ok - not too great.

Use your cell for local calls - hotel charges are too high.

Overall a good hotel to stay in with family.
