I happen to stay in the hotel during a short business trip to Mumbai. I have had a somewhat bad experience with the other Gordon House in Colaba. However, this one has made up for the last experience. The rooms are well designed, the staff is courteous and the service is immaculate. Gordon House always made a mark on the budget customer and this one is no exception. Its a good value for money hotel. The best bit was the rooms. Clean and well planned. They made one feel right at home.

Hotel is nice and on the same grounds as the Water Stones Club (most exclusive country club in Mumbai). The usage of the club was for free for us since we had a suite for six weeks. Suites are nice. Cleaning could be a bit better. Breakfast is nothing special and always the same. The hotel is well designed and is good for people who like a "new" look. Staff was always very friendly.

The hotel is good located very near Mumbai international airport and is different in looks from other "match box" hotels in Mumbai or other big cities. Rooms with different thenmes floor wise are really different and good breaking monotony where in all rooms of all similar hotels world wide look same.
Check in was littel confused where in we had booked two rooms confirmed by hotel but reception lady thought otherwise!
Breakfast was a total disappointment particularly the Indian menu which was very poorly cooked and without any flaavour or taste.
But a good hotel overall.

The best part about this hotel is definately the service, first class and a tip of 100 rupees (£1.20) to the bar man or bag carriers / room service goes a long way.

Each floor of the hotel is themed, and so are the rooms. You can stay in the mountain room, themed like a log cabin, you can stay in the glacier room, all very ice blue and stainless steel, you can stay in the fire room or rainforest room.

You get a very comfortable bed with a big flat screen TV showing news, movies and sport, you have a DVD player and have access to ovr 300 movies complimentary.

Each room looks out into a nice courtyard. The hotel has a restaurant "The flower pot" which serves very good food. There is a trendy bar where you can have a drink, there is a very nice coffe lounge to relax in.

You get complimentary use of the country house and spa. This is a real winner. The pool and sun loungers are fantastic. You can use the steam room and sauna and also the gym. The counry club has a bar upstairs and down, there is a asian themed restaurant, all of the menu sounded delicious. There is another restaurant called the white barn, we had a very good breakfast here.

The country club has a library like in the movies with two floors and ladders to reach your favourit book. It has a games room where you can play table tennis, pool or the various board games they have. They have a mini cinema room where you can chill on the comfy sofas and watch a DVD. They have a billiard room where you can play snooker on a ful sized table. There is a card room with 5 or 6 vegas style tables where you can play a game of poker perhaps. They also have a music room.

Really really good value at around £100 - £120 per night. Will definately be returning and for longer next time. Very very relaxing.

The food and beverages are all priced much higher than any other typical place in India. For example a beer will usually cost 50 rupees (70p), here it will cost you 150 rupees (£2.10). Wine is expensive at around £40 per bottle. A chicken ceaser salad around 350 rupees (£4.90). To be fair all the food was reasonably priced for the quality you recieved.

The only thing you need to watch out for is the concierge, he has a deal going on with local taxi drivers. A trip that costs 100 - 150 rupees (£1.40 - £2.10) when organised by the concierge turns into 500 rupees (£7.00). If you have been to India before you will know this is a ridiculous price and each time we got in a taxi we paid 250 rupees which is still more than you should pay but a little tip for the driver. They will try to tell you that 500 rupees needs to be paid - dont just pay it, they are having you on !

Really great hotel though !

I stayed at the Gordon House suites for 4 nights in September on a business trip to Mumbai. (my first visit to India)
First I would like to say that the reviewer who compared Gordon House rooms to an Ibis room must have been staying at another location or even on another planet! The Gordon House rooms are like nothing I have ever experienced before. (see pics) They are sooooooooo different to other hotel rooms, funky was my first thought. I was staying on the 3rd floor which had a rainforest theme. The room looked out on an internal water view with some nice greenery and was designed so no other rooms could look in, which gave a sense of privacy. The floor was made to look like a forest timber and the room décor was matched. The desk even was clear with tree ferns etc inlaid. While maybe not everyone's choice of design, I rather enjoyed staying in something different to the normal.
The hotel staff were very friendly and I felt safe despite the recent troubles in Mumbai. The security at the entrance gate was very thorough with every vehicle, even hotel cars, being inspected.
The hotel is very close to the airport but I did not hear any noise and the hotel provide a transfer service which was included in the price so it made getting to and from the airport very convenient.
Overall I enjoyed the stay at the hotel, it was certainly different and so was Mumbai (but in a very different way)

This hotel is something different !!

May not be liked by many business person as it does not have many professional touches/services but though I likes it most beucase of the room style and decoration of those rooms.

After office, if the hotel room can give you a soothing effect, it is nothing like that and bravo to the interior decorator who designed the hotel rooms - it is superb and excellent.

ONE MUST EXPERIENCE ONCE THIS SUITE STYLE HOTEL.
